Oaxaca Haven

We stayed in this spacious haven that is close to all the Oaxaca attractions. It is within easy walking distance of the central square which is always bustling with new exhibits or festivals. There are are many great restaurants all within walking distance or there is a well-appointed kitchen for meals at home. A personal favorite was the juice bar right up the street with inexpensive freshly squeezed tropical fruit juices that you can carryout for breakfast. Shopping, museums, craft markets and a fantastic botanical garden with guided tours in English all very close by foot. Other attractions like the ruins at Monte Alban and El Tule, the widest tree in the world, are within minutes by taxi or bus. Local transportation is easy to arrange. Our daughter walked to the local language school where we were able to arrange her enrollment on the spur of the moment.
The neighborhood is safe and Oaxacans we met were extraordinarily friendly . The owner was very accommodating and bilingual, which came in handy. After a busy day sightseeing it was so relaxing to return to this quiet home with an open central courtyard that made us feel like we were in our own private garden.
