Paradise found in laid back fishing village of Placencia, Belize. Feel the soothing sea breezes as you sip your rum punch from your shady tile floored veranda. Watch the colorful sunsets and distant mountain storms from your lookout tower. Relax for your afternoon nap in a hammock overlooking the lagoon or in the comfort of your air-conditioned bedroom. Rental cars are available but unnecessary as you are within walking/bicycling distance of groceries, airport, shopping, the beach, various tour agencies, and restaurants. Snorkeling, diving, or fishing tours to the incredible undersea world are available daily, weather permitting. You can buy fresh fish and local produce and create your own gourmet meal in your fully equipped kitchen. Stroll along the beach at sunrise and if you are lucky you may see dolphins frolic in the calm Bay of Honduras.

Take breakfast in one of the beach side restaurants while visiting with the locals. Dance the evening away to local music at a beachfront gathering. Belize is a friendly, English speaking country with British, Caribbean, and Mayan Indian influence. Placencia is a town of a few hundred people on a peninsula of the best beaches in Belize, just a few miles from the Great Barrier Reef. Most people are Creole, Hispanic or Central American with a fairly large group of U.S. expatriates along with Canadians, Europeans, and world travelers in general. Safety should not be a concern as Belizians love visitors to their country and are a treasure in themselves. You will find yourself settling into their leisure island time quickly. And when you get back home you may find it hard to adapt!
