Villefranche is a charming and quiet village in Puisaye, a region to discover in Northern Burgundy. Only a few miles from Chablis and Joigny, ideal for day trips to the Chateaux de la Loire or Fontainebleau or Paris or Burgundy (Vezelay, etc). This was our second trip to Villefranche, but our first during the summer - last time was during October. The weather was great and the late sunset made for great dinner gatherings on the large back lawn between the fruit trees. Having stayed at the house prior to the renovations we were able to appreciate all te work and artistic touches that were part of the recent maeover - it's beautiful!
We toured from the Loire to Chablis easily (as well as all the villages and sights in between) and were thrilled to be in Saint Fargeau as they prepared to host a leg of this year's Tour de France.
The markets, food, wine, sights and ambiance made for a wonderful "French countryside" portion of our vacation - and we're already making plans to return!

Beautiful home and garden in a charming little village. Fantastic restoration, comfortable furnishings, lovely fenced garden and orchard was great for entertaining. Great location only 1.5 hours from Paris with easy access to both the highway and train station. Stunning countryside with endless destinations from historical sites to wine tasting all close by. I'd definitely rent this house again, anytime of year.
