A Wonderful Getaway!
The owner was so kind and helpful...even through having three of us emailing him asking so many questions!
The Cabin is beautiful; it looks very modern in it's updates, yet still has the decor and warmth of wood and stone. The kitchen was a joy to prepare food in with ample counter and table space. There is a large living room with nearly floor to ceiling windows that afford a beautiful view of the scenery. Also within this space in front of the windows is a table to either have your meals at or play cards and games.
There are amazing hand-crafted rails leading you up the stairs to the large loft where there is a king sized bed, dressers for your clothes, and an air conditioner and ceiling fan. Off of the kitchen downstairs, there is the second bedroom, also with an air conditioner, and a very nice bathroom. Thoughtfully, there are many bathroom toiletries provided, and all of the fluffy towels you could ever need.
The lake-facing deck is very nice to relax on (I read two books) and you can be in the shade or in the sun. That is a plus when it gets so hot! Underneath the deck is a patio that you can get to from the outside, or from the basement of the house which provides a charcoal grill as well as extra chairs.
We sat by the fire pit (closer to the road) both nights and enjoyed hours of chatting and music.
The lake in front of the cabin does have lily pads and is not "open" water. HOWEVER: if you row over a bit to the left, you have wide open water to enjoy. We floated on tubes with drinkholders (we towed them behind the provided rowboat) and had the most relaxing time. The lake was so warm, yet still refreshing! On the second day, we brazenly asked a pontoon boat to tow us because the wind was feisty. We met a wonderful fellow named "Red" who then gave us a pontoon boat ride all around what turned out to be a huge body of water, including a meeting spot where many pontoons stop for conversation and put their lawn chairs in the water ( a sand bar). He even gave us a ride back to the cabin dock. Thanks Red!
If you have a trolling motor, it would make getting around a little easier than rowing, but rowing is not hard and it is good exercise.
To summarize: It was a relaxing & pampering mini-vacation at a very affordable price. The cabin is beautiful, tastefully decorated, pristinely clean, and had all the little things you might ever need (even duct tape!). The owners have done a wonderful job providing everything you need to have a true vacation!
