We are two professionals living in Cincinnati. We are nature lovers and enjoy many outdoor sports and activities. We love our cabin and spend as much time there as we could. We would like to share our cabin with other nature lovers to help us offset some of the maintenance and improvement cost.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2005
We discovered this Kentucky’s best kept secret 4 years ago. We fell in love with it. The lake is deep and large, but yet quiet. It is within Daniel Boone National Forest with beautiful foliages, wild lives, and rock formations. There are aslo plenty of amazing hiking trails and other recreational activities nearby.
We practically decided to buy the cabin as soon as we stepped out the realtor’s car! The cabin is nested under a big giant green tree umbrella and is only 50 feet from the water! We love to drink morning coffee on the dock while watching the morning mist coming up from the lake. We love to kayak to different coves in the lake to see wild lives and watch the milkyway in the middle of lake at the middle of night. We love to sit on the swing with camp fire and exchange jokes and stories with friends. We also love to drive on those long and winding country roads to see foliage changes and get wherever they lead us. The only problem is we have to leave and return to the reality!
We spent a week at Woods Creek Lake in this lakefront cabin rental for Spring Break with our grandchildren. The cabin is not large, but very cozy. There was plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children. There is a fireplace in the great room that we enjoyed nightly. There is a galley kitchen that served us well. Both bedrooms have beautiful views of the lake as does the great room. One bedroom opens to the large screened porch & the other to the deck. We had lunch and supper daily on the porch with it's stunning view of the lake. The kayaks and paddle boards were a hit and we all used them daily. The fish were jumping and all the fishermen enjoyed the dock and caught something. The non-fishermen enjoyed the sunny dock and all of the fishing excitement. If you are looking for a Club Med vacation this is not the place for you. If you are looking for secluded beauty, peace & quiet, the stars and moon so clear that they look close enough to touch along with the adventures of discovering new coves and fishing for the "big one" you will be in Heaven here...we certainly were.
We loved the getaway. The views were fabulous! The cabin was perfect for the two of us and the Kayaks were so much fun.
Only cons...living area dark, grill and firepit need attention.
I actually live less than an hour away from this cabin which is located near London, KY. The cabin is pretty cozy and comfortable for a family of four. We wanted to do some fishing and still be away from home while our college-age son could also attend classes during the mornings at a local university. This house fit the bill pretty well. We took our food with us and cooked all of our meals while staying there and only left to go get more bait and to visit a local flea market which is ten minutes or so from the cabin in London. We fished most all the time. The fishing was decent while staying and this cabin is located in a no-wake zone on the lake so most of the few boats that pass slow down when going by. This lake is a gem in the fact that it isn't known commercially nearly as well as Laurel Lake or Cumberland which keeps it from being too crowded. As stated before, the cabin is pretty comfortable and clean as well. It's an older building that has been kept up well with some renovations obviously happening in the recent past. The floors look new, the stove/range looks new and the living room looks updated with a nice woodburning stove on one wall.
The few things that were iffy for me were minimal. The shower is pretty small...I'm a big guy at 6'4" and 300 pounds and it was a tight fit. Lift the handle up on the shower and turn it all the way to the left and back a smidge gets the water temperature right. That took a little learning. The driveway can be a little intimidating, but, we had two 4x4's on our stay which kept it from being a problem. If you don't have a four wheel drive, there is a pull off next to the road to park on. The beds are really, really soft, but were comfortable enough.
The owner made the financial transactions very easy as well and returned our damage deposit in a few days after our return home. Overall it was a nice stay and I'd go back for another quiet weekend.
This is the PERFECT spot to get away for a few days with the family. Spent three very relaxing days doing a whole bunch of nothing and loved every minute of it. Kayaks are awesome, as is the raft in the shed (which is perfect for laying out on the water to get a tan). The dock is literally 30' or so from the front door of the cabin, and there is an awesome deck on the front of the cabin to sit and drink coffee and wake up in the morning. The beds are comfortable, the master has a sliding door that leads out to the deck (which is great to open in the early AM while waking up) and the kitchen was well stocked with anything we could have needed.
Sitting on the dock in the morning watching and listening to the wildlife while the sun comes up is priceless...especially if you get to do it with someone you love.
The price was great and the deposit was refunded with zero hassle after a week or so. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay..we WILL be back
When we stayed here it was cold, and I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in the summer time on that dock. I was actually proposed to on this weekend getaway which I am sure made it that much better. We loved the fire in and out. The grill needed some updating and only cooked on one side. Also, when we tried to take a shower, or flush the toilet, water came out of the drain in the shower containing sewage. The shower was not usable the time we were there, but they did get plumbers out there the next day. Which ment we had to stay in all day to accommodate them and it was still never fixed. The owners we kind enough to offer to pay for a hotel or refud our money. We didnt want to leave and liked it so much for just 2 nights, we went to the local store to use the bathroom. Loved the poarch anf the kayaks! Watch the driveway if you dont have a 4x4.
The wife and I spent a week at this cabin. Not fancy but it was a wonderful, peaceful, and fun experience we were looking for. We enjoyed the cabin and was fully equipped with what you may need. We spent most of our time like most enjoying the patio and boat dock. We rented a pontoon boat that the business delivered and picked it up at the marina. Beautiful lake, fishing was slow but we caught some and a 10 lb catfish off the boat dock at the cabin. Plenty of nature to enjoy birds, squirrels, possums, otters, ducks and cranes where seen around the cabin. Minutes from town stores. We are planning to visit this location again if it is available. Finding the light switch in the bathroom was tricky, which is straight across from the door.
