4 SEASONS LAKEFRONT SECLUDED HOME WITH A BEAUTIFUL VIEW

Casco House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6, wrap around deck with picinic table.

We'd love to have you come and spend a week at our house on the lake in September. It's a great month to spend time in Maine. We have lower prices are than at peak season and it's still a very lovely time of the year to be in Maine. We have been renting the house out for many years and people love the area, the house and the lake. The house is facing west and is nestled on a hill which gives you a lovely view of the lake, distant hills and sunset. You can sit on the big wrap around deck, lounge or eat a couple of lobsters outside on the picnic table. Or walk down the hill to the lake in half a minute, go for a swim, paddle our canoe, or go fishing in the lake. See the loon pair and their baby straddled on Mom's back. The house is wooden, with tiles in the bathrooms and kitchen, wood floors on the main level and basement family room, carpet in the upstairs bedroom. There are big French doors, covering practically the whole length of the front walls at the main and lower levels. Two beautiful stone, working fireplaces in upper and lower level living rooms. The kitchen is very well equipped. We make a number of upgrades on the house this year: installed a new, energy efficient furnace, new faucets, a new wood floor across the entire area of the main floor and basement family room. Every year we spend a month doing improvements to the house.

Enjoy the house and your stay during all seasons: relax and swim in the summer, enjoy Maine's beautiful foliage in fall, skiing and winter sports in the winter, and see nature come back in all its beauty in the spring.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We really enjoyed ourselves and thought you place was perfect for a week's escape on a Maine lake. Loved the sounds of the Loons. One complaint; we (my father and I) didn't catch any fish. Of course that might have had something to do with the folks behind the fishing poles! But, we didn't go hungry and had lots of fun cooking out and going swimming. Fireworks at Casco days Thurs evening were icing on the cake. Overall a great time was had by all.

My husband and I are retired teachers who have lived and taught in many places in the world, Norway, Senegal, Laos, Ethiopia, Scotland, France and Houston.

Ellen Ragon purchased this house in 1997

We bought this property for the stunning view, wrap around deck, and clean, peaceful lake. We love the swimming, boating and just sitting around one of the fireplaces in the evening.

The house is fairly close to Portland and yet you get a unique feeling of privacy. It is in a nice neighborhood with a large lot for each house and 145 feet of water frontage. Many beautiful, tall pines surround the house and so you hardly see the neighbors at all and besides most of the houses are occupied by people who live here year round and so they are often at work.

PEACEFUL RETREAT!

  • 5 of 5
What a peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable place this was! The home is nestled in a quiet community and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the lake, fishing from the canoe and dock, and spending quiet evenings in the spacious home. Day trips to Portland, Naples, Bar Harbor, and several other locations were also great fun, but there is no need to even leave Casco. You can stock up on groceries at one of the local supermarkets, and never leave the lake house! Either way, you will have memories to last a lifetime!

AMAZING HOUSE ON FUN LAKE WITH GREAT VIEWS!

  • 5 of 5
The property was amazing! Great pond with an island in the center for fun canoeing and laying out on the swim dock. The house itself was spacious and perfect for a small group.

Ellen was more than accommodating and great to work with. She was very communicative and flexible to make sure our group had a perfect weekend.

Would definitely stay again for a nice house on the lake!

LOOKING FOR A QUIET GET AWAY.........

  • 5 of 5
If you are looking for a tranquil setting of overlooking the water and watching the chipmunks chase each other back and forth, then this is the place for you. Having breakfast and dinner on the spacious deck overlooking the water was delightful. So quiet and serene, occasionally hearing a rooster in the distance. The spacious house is comfortable and is situated off the beaten path, yet located only miles away from various restaurants and parks. Would look forward to going back again! The owners were kind and courteous and provided quick communication and promptly mailed back a forgotten charger!

TOTAL RELAXATION & FUN-FILLED FAMILY VACATION

Total relaxation & fun-filled family vacation
  • 5 of 5
We were looking for a vacation spot directly on a lake where we could relax, fish and have some family time. The house was perfect for us and the weather was beautiful the entire week. Every morning the kids and I would go down to the dock and "cast" for 1-2 hours (our goal was actually NOT to catch fish but we all love casting - even my 4 year old!) The house is only 10 minutes away from Sebago Lake State Park - what a gem - so great we spent 2 different days there! We also went to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray and the Seacoast Fun Center - both an easy drive. The house itself had more than enough space for our family, fun games, a fantastic back deck to relax, read a book, have a family meal, all the amenities we needed. We truly relaxed and had an incredible family vacation.

OUR CHERISHED HOME AWAY FROM HOME...

  • 5 of 5
This beautiful house has become my family's home away from home, no pun intended. We have been vacationing in Maine for over ten years now and have stayed here five times, the last being in May of this year and what a different experience it has been between staying in a hotel and staying in this gorgeous house on the lake!

For someone like myself who wakes up with an alarm clock every morning, the rustling of the leaves in the summer breeze and the loons are music to my ears first thing in the morning. I get up, make myself a cup of coffee and have it on the deck. you can see the water from it and it is absolute paradise. There's shops, restaurants live music often. My wife and I took a sea plane ride a couple years ago which was absolutely breathtaking. I would have never thought of doing something like that if it weren't for being there. The kids went to the Drive-in movie theatre with my wife's parents and had a blast. It was quality time that is priceless and we hadn't seen the kids that excited about doing as a family that didn't include their laptops or ipads in a long time. And there's Portland of course which is Maine's largest city and is about a half hour or fourty-five minutes away which has everything you could possibly want out of a vacation and more. We went shopping and ate in the Old Port.

After an amazing day spent as a family, going back to "our" house on the lake versus going back to a hotel room makes such a difference. We have meals as a family, eat at the table and watch the loons and the boats from the deck or walk down to the water and sometimes go in the canoe.I just wish all families could experience what we have at this truly beautiful, serene house on the lake. The memories, the time spent together there has been priceless and the day we leave is always a little sad because time goes by so fast when we are here. I am thinking of surprising the kids and coming back before the end of the year, I hear the foliage is breathtaking in the fall.

A GREAT VACATION IN MAINE

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay in this home. During the booking process, the owner responded quickly to any email questions we had and once we arrived, she reached out to make sure everything was fine. The house was beautiful and the view from the deck was truly stunning. We had so much fun swimming in the beautiful lake and paddling around in the canoe we had at our disposal. All in all, my mother, husband and two children, had a really great vacation in Maine. We hope to come back next year.

Notes:
There are two fireplaces in the house, one located in the living room on the main floor and one in the basement family room. Firewood is not provided. It should be noted that if you want to make a fire in the fireplace, you would have to buy wood locally for that purpose in Maine as it is against the law in Maine to bring wood from another State or from Canada across the State of Maine line. The house is not air-conditioned but this is most of the time not necessary in Maine. There are screens on the doors and windows and plenty of fans.
