Beautiful 6400 sq ft mountain cabin bordering the Fort Apache Indian Reservation on the Mogollon Rim. Walnut Creek 1 mile, Woodland Lake 1.5 miles, Rainbow Lake public dock 3 miles and Scott's Reservoir 4 miles from the cabin. Two miles to the centers of Pinetop and Lakeside. 35 minutes from Sunrise Ski Resort. Barn, corral, arena and horses (not necessarily to ride). 3.7 acres. Skiing, hiking, hunting, boat rentals, fishing, horse back riding, quading (check new regulations), sightseeing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodland Lake Cabin. The large home made it comfortable to have multiple families together under one roof. There was plenty room in the numerous common areas and the children enjoyed running around outside.
We are trying to make reservations again, but are not able to contact the owner with the information on this site.
I am writing to let everyone know that this is the cabin to come to. The place has everything you need to have what I would call the best R & R one would need. The majority of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms, there are rooms for adults and smaller children. The layout is perfect, you are close to Show Low AZ - Sunrise Ski Resort - Hon Dae Casino for the gamblers - plus the town of Pinetop Lakeside has grown to a major city with all the major stores such as Wal Mart - home Depots - Safeway's ETC. Book your time now and go and have a very relaxing time. Check this place out you will not be sorry.
The location is perfect, the size of the cabin is fantastic, lots of local activities to get you out of the cabin (that is all that saved us) but that is where the positives end. The cabins need MAJOR repairs, and exterminating. We caught 7 mice in 5 nights. Bats roosting over the front door (so you know what is all over the doorstep every morning). With lots of work, $$, and repair it will be a great vacation spot for a large family, but as it is now it is a large headache for any renter.
I am sure the health dept. would close it down if they came in. Mice droppings everywhere, broken appliances, plumbing problems, not enough linnes, NOT CLEAN, too many problems to name. Keep looking you can find something for a little more $$ that will be clean, and rodent free. Wish I had gone somewhere else.
We had been searching some time to find a cabin large enough to take the entire family for a week at Christmas. This cabin certainly had enough living space as well as bedrooms and separate bathrooms. It was for sure one of the best Christmas' we have had since the kids were toddlers!
There were a few things that could have improved the cabin drastically. With a little TLC it would be perfect. Simple things...light bulbs in all the lights, switch plate covers in place, sheets that match, fireplaces that work, ice maker that works, enough dishes in the kitchen for 17 people not 6. A few yard sales to add some decor would make this place awesome!
I do have a slight problem with it being the responsibility of the renter to ensure the cabin is left clean for the next renter. I know when we left the cabin it was very clean however, I am not sure I feel confident the renter before cleaned toilets, sinks, floors, bedding, etc. I truly feel cleaning should be the responsibility of the management to guarantee everything is done properly.
Again, we would certainly rent again....just some thoughts for improvement.
