Large comfortable vacation house located near Hood Canal, Olympic National Forest, and Olympic National Park. The 'Little Quil' River, a salmon-bearing stream, runs along one border, with a waterfront firepit. Wildlife is abundant, and deer frequent the property, as well as many birds. The three levels provide spaces for privacy, as well as lots of room for lively gatherings. A wood stove in the family room supplements electric heat. The kitchen is well-equipped, and extras like a large fan and a portable playpen/crib add convenience.

Quilcene is located at the north end of Hood Canal, and is home to Olympic Music Festival, presenting world class classical music concerts in a rustic barn each summer weekend. Quilcene has a boat launch and swimming area on Hood Canal, a small grocery store, restaurants, and art gallery. Within 30 minutes from Quilcene, you can reach Port Townsend (Victorian seaport town with a vibrant arts community, antiqueing, and kayak rental), Sequim (major lavender growing area in the USA, Olympic Game Farm wildlife park, golf courses), and other communities along Hood Canal with lots of water activities.

Both bathrooms have hair dryers, shampoo and conditioner, soap, and good quality towels. A separate supply of towels is available for use outdoors if needed.

Notes: KITCHEN: Well equipped with many small appliances including toaster, blender, coffee maker, espresso maker, electric kettle, electric griddle, and mixer. Plenty of dishes and silverware, and dishwasher to smooth the cleanup. Some staple supplies are available such as spices, sugar, and artificial sweetener. The washer and dryer are located in the lower level bathroom, along with an iron which can be used with a towel on top of the dryer for and ironing board. DINING AREA: The dining table seats up to eight by itself, but there are TV trays in the bedroom closet which can be used for a bigger group. LIVING ROOM: The seating in this room includes a sofa and love seat, and the chairs around the dining table. Casual seating for 10 or more. ENTERTAINMENT: Games and books are on the lower level, primarily in the TV room in its closet. Jigsaw puzzles, games for various ages, outdoor bocce ball set, and movies for a variety of ages.

Nature at Your Doorstep: Olympic National Forest Ranger Station in Quilcene carries full information on recreation in the forest. Hiking, gorgeous scenery, and plenty of peace and quiet. Hood Canal offers a wide range of water activity, and seafood as fresh as you can get it. Clamming is a popular activity along Hood Canal. We have set up a shellfish/seafood cleaning table outdoors with access to a hose, and ask that you do not clean seafood in the house. Without ever leaving the property, you are likely to see deer passing through, and many species of birds. At the right season, salmon can sometimes be seen in the Little Quilcene River.

Arts and Entertainment: Quilcene has an art gallery and is home to Olympic Muisc Festival, classical music on summer weekends. Within 30 minutes: Live community theatre in Port Townsend and Sequim, movie theatres in Port Townsend, drive in movie near Port Townsend. Port Townsend and Sequim are home to many art galleries and various live music performances. Check local papers for listings! Casino: 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn, 25 miles from Quilcene.

Golf: Discovery Bay Golf Club, near Port Townsend (18 holes), very affordable. Cedars at Dungeness, near Sequim (18 holes). SkyRidge Golf Course, near Sequim (9 holes + 1). Sunland Golf and Country Club, near Sequim. (18 holes). All have websites.
