My home is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but quickly fell in love with the Mentone/Lookout Mountain region. I never tire of the beauty or the people and I hope you fall in love too and want to return again and again as I do.
Michelle Mancuso purchased this cabin in 2007
We have traveled to Lookout Mountain for many years and decided we wanted a vacation home in this unspoiled area. It is so convenient to many other destinations and we often have intentions of using Hawk's Nest Hideaway as the headquarter for further adventures, but we end up falling in love with what the area has to offer in views and outings so we stay and never venture any further than a days drive away. Any time of year, any season we have never been disappointed.
This area is unique in that there is a little known fact that Little River Canyon is the deepest river canyon besides the Grand Canyon the USA and the river flows entirely on the top of the mountain. This area is so pristine, clean, uncluttered and unique. You will truly fall in love and want to return many many times. I welcome you and your family to my home.
Beautiful home. We married in Mentone and we come back every year for our anniversary. 6th year now. We have stayed in several different places but think we have found the "ONE" from now on. Great place to reconnect and leave behind all the worries of everyday life. We hate to leave.
My husband and I stayed at Hawk's Nest for a week and loved it! We are from Northern Indiana and brought our motorcycle down with us to ride the beautiful countryside. The house was comfortable and very well kept. It was very peaceful to just sit by the creek and listen to the sounds of nature all around. My husband tried his hand at fishing the pond, but had not luck. It was a great week! Michelle (the owner) was very helpful with the booking and answering any questions I had before we booked it. She even text me the day we got home to make sure we made it safety.
What a wonderful experience! Horseback riding, fishing in the pond (although with little success), hanging out by the creek and an adventure to hike at The Pocket...........it really was a great spring break trip with the kids. The home was cozy and comfortable, we all slept great and my girls loved the hot tub at the end of each day. Mentone is always a great place and this is just another great experience.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay for the weekend. The house is very clean, roomy and comfortable. It snowed so the scenery of the pond and creek were extra nice to see! We enjoyed the hot tub on the back covered porch even during the rain/snow. We had a great dinner at the Wildflower Cafe. The owner communicates well and cared about the quality of our stay, I recommend it!
We were a group of four women traveling to northern Alabama for a retreat. We completely enjoyed our time at the house, including all of the outdoor beauty and the hot tub! The owner was a joy to work with! Highly recommended.

We rented Hawk's Nest Hideaway for a weekend getaway to celebrate my wife's birthday. I couldn't believe how clean and well furnished it was. There was plenty of space to enjoy, both indoors and outdoors. The property has a gentle slope down to a babbling brook which makes for a very pleasant view. The hot tub is on the screened in part of the deck, so it's still accessible even if it's raining. We took advantage of the furnished kitchen by cooking breakfast both mornings that we were there. The electric space heater in the master bathroom was a nice touch. The location is perfect as it's quite secluded, yet only about 15 minutes to the heart of Mentone.
The bed (at least in the master bedroom) was very comfortable, and even had embroidered sheets. I had a few questions during our stay and was very impressed with how quickly they were answered. There is no cell service inside, so some of the correspondence was via email and iMessage over wifi. I was never made to feel like I was being an annoyance. I would definitely stay here again... maybe next fall as the leaves are changing color!
On the trip we went hiking in the DeSoto State Park and the Little River Canyon State Park. I had no idea such beautiful natural attractions existed in Alabama! While certainly not the Rocky Mountains, it did remind us of our honeymoon in Banff, Canada. A word of caution, the GPS had the wrong address for the Little River Canyon park, and put us on a single lane dirt road that was difficult to get back off of. That made for an interesting adventure though.
Another word of caution, be mindful of the time zone differences from Alabama to Georgia. It's easy to forget that restaurants and things in Georgia are an hour ahead, even though they are only a short drive away.
