Perfect house for group getaway

  • 5 of 5

A group of us (7 total) stayed here over New Year's Eve- this house was perfect for a group of friends/couples- plenty of private space, yet lots of communal space as well. Convenient (short drive) to supermarket/shopping/ Amtrak stations if needed. Beautiful location on the water, which we appreciated even in winter- especially the view from the living room! Dave was extremely personable and responsive. We're already planning a trip back in warmer weather.

Lovely location on Niantic Bay

  • 4 of 5

We rented the house for a week for my son's graduation from the Coast Guard Academy. It is a lovely location and we loved playing croquet on the side yard and dinners on the patio. There is ample living space (lots of big comfy couches) and a very well stocked kitchen. My only complaint is with the plumbing. Although the house has two bathrooms that are next to each other, we struggled with a lack of water pressure and inconsistent hot water - we could never run both showers at the same time and sometimes had tepid showers. Other than that - the place was great!

Owner's Response: I am very glad we were able to learn of the water pressure problem as we were able to correct by adding in an NEW indirect hot water heating system in early June. We formerly had hot water off the boiler and thi snew usint has been sized correctly to accomodate our guests. Thank you again and sorryfor inconvenience.

Beautiful home and location

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a Friday to stay for Columbus Day weekend. We got married at Rocky Neck State Park on October 7th and this house served as our bridal headquarters during that process. The location was perfect.

It's so exciting to arrive in new digs and roam around the house and property checking everything out. First, we became acquainted with the backyard/patio area which has a dock sitting on the river. You can also see this view from two decks attached to the house and a wall of windows. Every morning you can wake and watch as the sun rises and fills the space with light. We loved the open quality of the "great room" and we made ourselves at home in the kitchen stocking the fridge with all sorts of good food. There was plenty of shotgun style parking and the house was very clean and well maintained. We are already dreaming of the next time we can visit again.

Fantastic Girls Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

To celebrate an upcoming wedding, a group of ladies from all over New England embarked upon this beautiful home for a weekend in May. The view was breathtaking-- we enjoyed appetizers and conversation by the water. The owner left various take out menus so we could order in a casual dinner. We spent the following day visiting local sites, including a winery tour. The property is beautiful, the rooms are clean, there is plenty of space to "lounge" and all hang out. We found ourselves playing board games in the large living room, eating dinner at the large dining room table, and enjoying a beautiful breakfast sitting at the glass table with a spectacular view. I assumed the pictures would be better than the actual property, but I was wrong--in person, it was breathtaking, calm, and private. We all had the best time, and we all said we'd love to come back again when we had more than just a weekend to stay. I'm planning on booking this same property for a future family vacation. We just can't say enough about this cool, interesting, serene, clean place. Thank you so much!

Great visit over the 4th!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this vacation house on the Niantic River over the 4th of July. What a fantastic place! This house is very spacious inside and we had plenty of room to entertain our friends and family. The kitchen was also well stocked with wine glasses, lobster pots, etc. The bed in the master bedroom was a tempur-pedic (or something like it) which was very comfortable. We slept better on vacation than at home! The water off the end of the dock was plenty deep so we were able to jump and dive off the dock with no worries at low tide. We could easily have kept a motor boat at the dock and there is lots of room for water skiing in front of the property. Our boys were able to kayak over to a small beach on the other side of the river. Dave and Susan also provided a beach pass to the town beach which overlooks Niantic Bay. There's a great place for seafood in town, Flanders Fish Market. We had several meals there and it's a must visit when we're in Niantic. We highly recommend this vacation home and hope to be back next year.

Owner's Response: Thanks Tom. What a nice review! That's why we have the place and plan on living there when we retire in the distant future! :-). Dave and Sue

Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Spent three nights at this great vacation house for a family wedding and wished it could have been longer. It was located in a quiet area, with awesome fishing off the dock, which kept our grandsons happy for hours. We entertained various relatives and all were very happy with the sleeping arrangements, with comfortable beds and pull-out couches with lots of privacy. It was an easy drive to town with lots of good restaurants and beaches. We would definitely come back and rent it again.
