A month in Pau - a winter wonderland

Our 5th floor apartment in Pau was exceptionally well located – in the middle of town with fabulous views of the Pyrenees. As time passed we realised how lucky we were to have found the apartment which was well equipped, warm, and modern. A high-speed internet connection meant that my husband was able to do a couple of hours work each morning and that was critical to his ability to enjoy the holiday experience. He is also an excellent cook so the gallery kitchen was fully used. Whilst I rested and read, my husband entertained me by his piano playing. Having a piano in the apartment was a very pleasant surprise.
Everything one needs for a rich French experience is available in Pau and all were within walking distance. It was only a step this way to good cafes, a supermarket, a couple of boulangeries, and Galleries LaFayette and a step the other way to caves, fresh food markets, chocolate and cheese shops. And it helped that we were there during the ‘Soldes’.
We hired a car and with Pau as our base, did side trips to many of the communes of the Hautes-Pyrénées.
Daisy, the owner, helped us get settled in and ensured that all was in readiness for our stay. I have already made a tentative booking to have another stay in our apartment in Pau. When you have tasted it all, why would one look for anywhere else?
