18th Arrondissement Montmartre Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Mont Martre is for lovers of art and history. One can find the footsteps of some famous painter or musician every corner. Full of shops, galleries, restaurants. Being the highest point of Paris, the front steps of the Sacre Cœur will give the visitor a full view of the City. Remote, yet infinitely close, only a twenty minute metro-ride from the downtown area, the apartment is ideally located. Across the street from Rue Paul Albert, the scene of many movies.

This two-bedroom apartment is located in the most attractive area of the Mont Martre, in the 'Abbesse. 3 minutes from the Sacre Coeur, close to restaurants and public transportation, makes it an ideal vacation rental in the heart of Paris.

The apartment is on the last floor of the building, making a quiet getaway even during the day. Well lit by a skylight, newly renovated and furnished. Fully equipped with anything one might imagine, one needs.

One bedroom accommodates two, while the living room can sleep another two visitors. Kitchen and dining area is available for inviting friends over for a glass of wine or dining in. The windows have a view of the inner courtyard with a flower garden.

I am physician, originally from Hungary, now living in New York. I am also a fan of arts and culture. I visit Paris as often as I can, and still find new and exciting things to do. I stay in the apartment twice a year. Growing closer to the neighborhood every time, I feel like I was born there.

Gabor Simon purchased this apartment in 2008

For my love for Paris, especially the hill that surrounds Sacre Coeur, Montmartre. I have visited Montmartre the first time, much younger. Ever since I dreamed of having a place on Abbesse.

Montmartre itself is somewhat remote from the rest of Paris. On can see the city from the vintage point a few steps away from the apartment. One can enjoy the quite side of Paris, or mingle in with colorful crowd of people, who visit it throughout the year. To have a 'creme' on the top of the romantic Rue Paul Albert, the scene of numerous movies or watch the artists make portrait is my favorite. Being close to several metro lines the access to the rest of Paris is quick and easy.

Charming and romantic getaway in Montmartre

  • 5 of 5
I spent a month in this apartment from mid-August to mid-September. It was absolutely perfect and fulfilled my fantasy of a romantic Paris escape. I loved being on the top floor of the lovely old apartment building and having a view out onto the cobbled courtyard. The location was also perfect. The Basilique du Sacre Coeur is right next door, and as tourist attractions go it's pretty darn breathtaking. It's also a great landmark for navigation--if I ever got lost, I just had to walk uphill until I found the Basilique and then it was easy to find my way back to the apartment. Aside from the Basilique, the neighborhood is refreshingly non-touristy. The back of Montmartre is filled with quiet tree-lined streets scattered with patisseries and coffee shops, where people are friendly (and willing to speak french to you even if your french isn't perfect!), and the pace is a bit slower. I spent a lot of time lingering over espressos and writing in the sidewalk cafes. I also walked into central Paris quite frequently--it takes about half an hour but there's lots to see on the way, and for those who don't fancy walking the apartment is very close to stops on three different Metro lines, so it's very simple, fast, and cheap to get pretty much anywhere in town.
My interactions with the owner Gabor and the property manager Alain were all very positive. It was easy to get in touch with both of them to arrange the rental and my security deposit was returned within a week of leaving the apartment. In short, I am hard-pressed to find anything negative to say about the apartment, and if I ever have the opportunity to return to Paris for a few weeks, this will definitely be the first choice for a place to stay!

A Bargain Apartment

  • 5 of 5
Jim, a friend of a friend here in Seattle, stayed in Gabor's Paris apartment last year and recommended it. I was happy to find it as described in the listing and I spent the month of May this year treating it as my home away from home. The apartment was clean and well stocked with everything I needed while I was there. The neighborhood is full of convenient stores. A Carrefour market is just around the corner on Rue Clignancourt, a great boulangerie is just a few steps down the street from the building and there are metro stops in any direction. I highly recommend it. Remember that it requires climbing four flights of stairs - not handicap accessible, but that's the only caveat. I had friends spending the month in an apartment just off the Champs Elysees and though their place was big and expensive, Gabor's apartment has a more fully equipped kitchen. I hope to be there again next year, time permitting.

A Month Well-Spent

  • 4 of 5
My wife and I spent a month from mid-February to mid-March at this Montmartre Getaway, and were well pleased with it. The description says there are two bedrooms, and strictly speaking that's true, but I would probably describe it as a one generously sized bedroom and a sleeping area for occasional guests. It looks like the photos in the description, was clean and well maintained, the heating worked well (a good thing, because February was unusually cold in Paris), and when there was a small leak in the hot water heater, the rental manager got right on it, and it was fixed within 36 hours. And it was quiet! We arrived on a Friday or Saturday night, having come up from Nice (where our apartment in Vieux Nice was bathed in noise most of the time) and had the best sleep we had had in six weeks. Quiet and a comfy bed . . . that's hard to beat. We found the four flights of stairs a bit tiring at the end of the day, but we knew what we were getting into when we rented the place, and the price (which we thought was a real bargain) reflected the fact that guests will be getting their exercise climbing. Complaints? We have two small items. It seems like nobody rents apartments with a good sharp paring knife and straight-cutting bread knife, and this place was no exception. And it seems that almost everybody is decorating with high bar stool-type chairs, and again this place was no exception. However, things were mostly very positive. Both the owner and his agent were very helpful, it was in a great location (just below the Sacre Coeur), there were three different Metro lines within five minutes of the apartment, groceries and wine were easy to find. We had a lot of suppers at Le Saint Denis along rue des Abbesses: the food was cheap, plentiful, and good (I ate a half dozen Croque Monsieurs), and it had a nice neighborhood feel. As for attractions and activities nearby, the obvious ones nearby are the Sacre Coeur and place du Tertre, but really, this is Paris!! I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends or family.

Excellent Apartment in a Crummy Building

  • 4 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay in Gabor's apartment. Gabor was extremely helpful with our (many) questions before booking. The property manager, Alan, was also very helpful with information and was very flexible with our odd schedule.

The location worked very well for us. We enjoyed staying in Montmarte. The street is quiet and the people at the lovely bakery on the corner helped us in English.

The kitchen was well appointed, and we enjoyed shopping at the nearby markets and cooking like Parisians.

The apartment itself is very nice, but the building is in crummy shape. The plumbing was fine (hot water for showers, decent water pressure, etc) but none of the faucets turned completely off so we had a cacophony of drips from the bathroom all night. We did not mind walking up and down the stairs (as others have noted), but one stair in particular between the second and third floors is very worn, short, and slick, and I fell down a flight. (For the record, I'm a pretty fit 20-something who is not prone to slipping on stairs!)

We really enjoyed Paris and Gabor's apartment, but these bruises are not exactly the souvenir I was hoping to take home!

Aside from these few little things, this is a lovely place to stay. Thanks, Gabor!

sleepy from seattle

How lucky was I to spend the month of April in Paris??? And to top it off I also had the good fortune of renting Gabor's adorable apartment there. Clean, comfortable and spacious for a rental. Old World character (69 steps up a winding wooden spiral staircase!) and modern conveniences (full kitchen facilities, big bathroom, big bedroom and a washer. Close to grocery stores, outdoor markets, bakeries and transportation. Montmarte with its winding streets and hills was my favorite part of the city. I hope I get to stay in this apartment again soon.
