Home away from home in the Marais!
Review Submitted: January 19, 2010
Date of Stay: October 2009
My family and I (couple with 2 children (baby and 8 year old)) stayed in this apartment for 10 days in early November and absolutely loved it! We had looked for a place that was kid friendly, particularly for our younger daughter that was 10 months at the time. The apartment is very spacious and functional, equipped with everything one needs to cater to a family (high chair, crib, bibs, plastic glasses, stairway security fences, children dvd's, toys, etc...). The owners were very courteous and charming and went the extra mile to make us feel like relatives that were staying over. Behind an unassuming and discreet front entrance lies a very lovely bright and spacious home away from home on the top floor of a historical building in the Marais (prepare yourself to the flight of stairs!!). The apartment layout is ideal for a family with a lovely and very comfortable master bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the second floor with outstanding views of Paris rooftops...you even have a glimpse of the Eifel Tower from the 3rd bedroom. The first floor feels like a loft as it is all open space ideal when preparing dinner and looking after the kids. There is a cute and inviting bedroom on the main floor with a crib. The large master bathroom is also on the main floor equipped with a pedestal bathtub and very lovely tile work on the floor. Everything in the residence is tasteful yet unpretentious. Many travel books are available throughout the apartment to plan day trips or longer around the area. The overall feel is like having a very private cocoon-like hideaway in the middle of a very busy and trendy neighbourhood... The best of both worlds!. A few blocks away is Place des Vosges, rue de Rivoli, BHV!!, rue des Francs Bourgeois, many supermarkets and traiteurs, a great park, interior parking, everything you need to make your stay quite enjoyable! Hope to be back some day!
