Enjoy gorgeous sunsets and ocean breezes on the huge wraparound deck of this spacious upside down house located 400 feet from Block Island Sound. Only 7 years young, this well appointed 3600 SF home has everything you are looking for: a brand new inground heated salt water pool, a short walking distance to 3 area beaches, a huge Great Room with living area and a large chef’s custom kitchen with gas & granite, 4 comfortable bedrooms with high thread count bedding and linens, an outdoor hot/cold shower, central a/c, a huge game room with wet bar and a large seating area, huge flat screen TV, new ping pong table, integrated Bose sound system with Ipod/Iphone connectivity inside and outside the house, 2 huge beach stone fireplaces, 3 tumbled marble baths (all with tubs), patio dining set with stainless BBQ and a cozy loft area for reading or playing games. Cable TV & wireless internet included. Five minute drive to Ocean beaches. Top of the line everything.

Property Location: The House is located in the Soundview section of Montauk which is within walking distance to the Harbor area, by Gosman's Dock. You can easily walk to 4 area Sound beaches, at least 1/2 dozen great restaurants, many lovely shops, Ben & Jerry's, the Montauk ferry terminal, and several local watering holes. Walk to the ferry and watch local fisherman bring in the catch of the day or charter your own fishing boat. Take the ferry for a day trip to Block Island or hire a sailboat for a fabulous sunset. Plenty to do on foot or bike!

NOTE: Those of your considering homes that are 'walk to the ocean,' PLEASE keep in mind that we HIGHLY recommend swimming at beaches WITH TOWN LIFEGUARDS! Recent seasons produced some serious currents and tragedies did result. Even on beaches WITH Lifeguards, we witnessed plenty of rescues. Many ocean beaches DO NOT HAVE LIFEGUARDS!!!

BOTTOM LINE: WALKING DISTANCE TO A OCEAN BEACH WITHOUT A LIFEGUARD CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!!

The Perfect Family Reunion Spot: The Tauk House is the perfect place for large family gatherings. The layout is ideal for 2 families sharing the house. Not only are there ample bedrooms but there are so many spots to relax; from several sitting areas indoors to several choice spots on the wrap around deck and front porch. Privacy, relaxation, bliss.

The local area of this home can be described as ocean beach resort. Most all activities are water and beach related although golf, horseback riding, fantastic road and mountain biking, countless hiking trails and more can be found there as well. The quaint town of Montauk can be compared to a small island with plenty of sandy beaches, boutiques, restaurants, marinas and boating. Amagansett and East Hampton are approx. 20 minutes away. Private Block Island Sound beaches are within walking distance.

Golf: Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the golf course at Montauk Downs is one of the Top 50 public golf courses in the United States. In addition to the course, the facility offers a full service driving range, a sparkling Olympic sized swimming pool, and 6 Har-tru tennis courts, all located minutes from the house. Tom Dess manages the course as the General Manager. Greens fees are $114* on weekends and $104* on weekdays for out of state residents. NY State residents pay 1/2. * includes golf cart where available

Cleaning $200

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (US Dollar) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • RATES INCLUDE UTILITIES AND GARBAGE. PROPANE GAS PRO RATA.
  • Typically, a signed lease, a security deposit ($1,500 weekly or $2,500 biweekly) plus 50% of the rent is required to reserve this property. Balance and security deposit required 30 days prior to arrival date. Owner will provide a lease via email upon request. A $200 house (weekly) or $350 (monthly) cleaning fee is required. All utilities are included in weekly rentals. Propane use GREATER THAN $100 for pool heater is renters responsibility!! Longer term rentals (OVER 2 WEEKS) will be charged for utilities. Weekly rentals are Saturday at 4pm and end the following Saturday at 11am.
    Personal checks can be accepted if received more than 2 weeks in advance of rental otherwise a bank check will be necessary.
    Security Money will be deposited to an escrow account until approx 14 days after lease term is over, at which time a refund will be issued.
  • A MAX OF 10 GUESTS & 5 CARS ARE ALLOWED TO STAY. IF THIS POLICY IS VIOLATED, THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RETAIN SECURITY DEPOSIT. NO PROMS ALLOWED!

Wonderful Week in Montauk

We had a wonderful week in Montauk. This property was a perfect home base for our family and we found it clean with everything that was promised in the ad.

Montauk is a very charming town, and the proximity of this home to all that Montauk offers is outstanding. We walked to Gossman's for ice cream, took a very short ride to the beach and watched the sun set almost every night.

I would recommend this property hightly.

Our week in Montauk

What a wonderful week we had. Montauk is such a nice little community (our first time there) and this house was perfect for us. It was totally neat and clean on our arrival and the owners kindly let us arrive a little early. The house is spacious and equipped with every amenity you could possibly want. The large kitchen/dining/living room upstairs is where we "lived." It was a great place to hang out, with a nice deck off of it for grilling, eating, sunning, and reading. Downstairs is another large room with TV, bar, and ping pong table. And the pool was so nice. My 9 month old grandson seemed to prefer it to the sand of the beach so we spent a lot of time lounging around and in the pool.
With a 9 month old with us, we didn't seek out any night life in the area, but enjoyed an outing to the lighthouse and into the town of Montauk which has lots of shops and places to eat.
In short, the house was as nice as it appears in the photographs. I would definitely recommend it.

AMAZING HOUSE!

We just returned from our Montauk vacation and this house was amazing! Extremely CLEAN ... open spaces .... linens ... towels ... fully stocked kitchen .... ipod docking station .... pool ... who could ask for more? We had two young children and it was more then enough room for them to roam around and not get hurt. The pictures fairly depict the house. The neighborhood is extremely quiet with beautiful views of the water. With young children - the town beach was a better choice then the beaches that were walkable (they were rocky and one had a ledge that was pretty steep) .. but it is a nice walk to gosman's dock.

Kristine was an absolute pleasure to deal with .. very responsive via text/email/phone. We hope to rent the house again next summer!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

awesome vacation house

Our family loved this house. The house was bright and clean, lots of room for everyone, and because of the upside down layout (typical of a nice summer property) it felt like 2 distinct places to be.
Downstairs is perfect for kids with a fab ping pong table, huge TV and of course the pool. (because it is a saline pool, it feels amazing).
Upstairs has a large kitchen, and lots of surface areas for preparing and eating.
Outdoor shower is 5 star, as is the master bedroom. All bedrooms have ceiling fans which keep the air moving on that rare still day.
The unexpected bonuses were the quiet neighborhood, (our kids were able to ride bikes easily due to very little traffic), and Gossman's. A local resteraunt/ fish market (fish literally caught hours before) near where the boats dock. It is a nice walk from the house, and a great place to go for ice cream after dinner.
Spectacular house. I would highly recommend it.

A Perfect House for a Reunion!

We were very pleased with this property. The layout is wonderful for entertaining and the house is very well stocked and tastefully decorated. The general feeling is open and airy with the Block Island Sound breezes passing through. The neighborhood is residential and quiet.
I usually pack everything I think I might need for the week, but there was no need. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, spices and condiments. There was a sound system with speakers in every room and the deck which worked with our IPods.
The house was immaculate and as described. We all especially enjoyed cocktails on the deck while watching the sunset.
My entire family liked this property and are hoping we can rent it again next year.
