Take a hike in the famous Clark's Fork Canyon and view the wildlife, along with the fantastic scenery & have access to fish in the Clark's Fork of the Yellowstone. All this is within minutes of the cabin. Travel the same trail's as Jeremiah Johnson did!

Yellowstone is in the backyard and is accessible through Cody & the East Gate.

Chief Joseph Scenic Highway is a very beautiful drive, within minutes of the cabin.

Have your camera ready, deer and antelope pass thru the ranch every morning and evening. The wildlife is abundant. The sunrise is an awesome sight, rising over The Bighorn Mountains, as you can see 80 miles to the east. The Pryor Mountains, where the wild horses roam, are also in view.

Walk to the west side of the deck and watch the morning glow on The Beartooths. It is a beautiful experience.

I am a photographer and horse trainer. I travel a lot, that is how I found the unique area of Clark & Buck Taylor's cabin. I always travel with my dog's,a German Shepherd and a lively Jack Russell, and a new addition of a Great Dane! They LOVE to come out to the ranch and go hiking. My photography was fortunate enough to grace the cover of Cody & Beyond & feature pictures of the area & the Cody Rodeo in the 2011-2013 magazine.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

I loved the fact that I could be close to the mountains and yet when family and friends visit we could be close to TWO tourist towns and Yellowstone Park. We never run out of things to do! The mountains are so close and beautiful, and there is a wonderful view in every direction being up so high. Also a big factor is that even though the ranch is private , it is paved up to where the property starts. I can hike right off from the cabin & the Shoshonee National Forest is in the backyard. BLM land backs up behind the cabin so there is plenty of open space. Hiking in the Clarks Fork Canyon is such an experience, hearing the rush of the river, spotting wildlife, glorious views. Picturing the calvary chasing down Cheif Joseph and his tribe many years ago. Best is getting up, sipping coffee and watching the sunrise over the Big Horn's 80 miles to the East, and the colors glowing on the mountains behind you.

Enjoy complete privacy & be born free as you will be the only guest at the ranch! Peacefulness, great fishing, hiking in the mountains with many access trails. Seeing the wildlife run free, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, fresh air and awesome night skies with no city lights. I like the fact that historical figure Jeremiah Johnson used to frequent the area. There was a gunfight in the canyon & Cheif Joseph crossed through here when the calvary was in pursuit. There is a lot of history and you can feel it.

The cabin itself is so unique with hand tooled logs right from the Rocky Mountains! The decor is all 'old west', and you really feel a wonderful 'western experience'!

The ranch is pet friendly for pets and horses too. It feels good to think that Hall of Fame Cowboy, Buck Taylor, from 'Gunsmoke', used to own the cabin. You can listen to the coyote's and wolves howl while sitting at your bonfire at night, and really feel like you are in another era. There is plenty of cut firewood at the ranch for your use.

I also send my visitor's a travel planner packet. It has brochure's of activities in the Cody, Lovell, Red Lodge & Yellowstone area. I also include maps of the area, hiking trails, and fishing spot's.

Visitor's may plan well in advance their vacation time. This has gone over well & has proved to be very helpful to vacationer's.

Everything we dreamed it would be

I have a habit of choosing our vacation rentals through a gut feeling, and knock on wood, it has always worked out for our travels. This same gut feeling had me choose this rental and we are so happy that my gut didn't lead us astray. Before we arrived, Debbie had mailed us travel brochures, etc that proved very helpful during our stay. The cabin is private, sits on a hill overlooking the area, and has a MAGNIFICENT wrap-around deck that proved so relaxing. The cabin has a cozy feel (with great art placement) but has plenty of space for our relatives to stop by and have dinner then sit outside and make s'mores by the firepit. Our dogs loved the area, it was close to the creek, had plenty of room to run, and the gravel road below had very little traffic (and the people who drove by all waved, what a great, friendly community). The caretaker called to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us several ideas for our travels. I wish we had more time to enjoy the cabin since we were on a tight schedule, but look forward to visiting again and sitting on that great deck enjoying the peace and quiet.

Hint: Before you arrive, stop by a grocery store in Red Lodge or Cody since the closest store/bar/restaurant, The Edelweiss, only carries bare essentials (no toilet paper, but has Dinty Moore stew).

"Now this is a vacation"

Those are the words from my wife after walking through the cabin and then back out onto the deck upon arriving. WOW!! A super place to get away. All of the comforts of home and a wonderful mountain/western cabin decor. Even Dish TV to keep you in tune with news and weather. We watched a lot of the outdoor channel - live from the deck. Make a point to get up and watch the sunrise, OMG. The 3/4 wrap around deck gave you a wide range of veiws. This cabin is off the beaten path yet central to so much. The Cody, Red Lodge and Yellowstone area is gorgeous. If you're coming from the east don't miss the Big Horn Mountain Range and Forest. Absolutely beautiful country. Debbi was wonderful to work with too. The place is as advertised. Debbi, thanks for sharing.

Owner's Response: One of the best parts of sharing the ranch is the chance to come in contact with so many wonderful people and sharing the experience's of life "out west"! I hope this couple has many memories to take with them!

Fabulous cabin near Beartooth Mts and Cody

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed here a week beginning of June, and our kids still rave about it. The cabin was very comfortable, and the view is breathtaking. You do need to duck some if you are tall, but my husband still has all his brain cells. Not only was the inside great, but the outside was great too. We really enjoyed cooking s'mores outside at the fire pit, and coffee on the back porch in the morning.

Owner's Response: Glad this was a memorable experience for the kids! I hope they will never forget their "out west" experience.
There is a low beam going through the bathroom, cowboy's definitely must have been shorter!

Would love to live there!!!

Our family was amazed by not only the cabin and setting, but also the fact that there was so much to do. You definitely need to have plenty of time to explore and time to just sit and relax on the porch. It was well worth our drive from Missouri and Debbie was very helpful in sending information ahead of time to help us learn what there was just in the immediate area of her cabin. If you're looking for a rustic western atmosphere, then is will give you your fix.

True Out West Experience

  • 4 of 5
My family spent 4 nights at the cabin in June. We all had a great time especially my girls ages 7 and 10. They loved chasing the bunnies around the property. It was a true out west experience as you are in the middle of no where surrounded by beautiful views. So if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is it! Cabin was very nice inside. We found it had everything we needed. Owner was extremely nice.

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS!

  • 5 of 5
I hate it that I've taken so long to write a review (sorry)! We absolutely loved the cabin, though, and had a wonderful time when we stayed here in February of this year. The cabin was perfect size for the two of us - and the snowfall was quite a bonus to our romantic getaway! Saw more large game and wildlife on this trip than I've seen in a year (elk, deer, buffalo, longhorn sheep, alpacas, rabbits, etc)! It was impossible to take a bad photo...was truly breathtaking. We'd definitely come back if we get a chance. Owner and property caretaker were both extremely helpful and responsive. Wish there was a way to post some pictures here!
