I am a photographer and horse trainer. I travel a lot, that is how I found the unique area of Clark & Buck Taylor's cabin. I always travel with my dog's,a German Shepherd and a lively Jack Russell, and a new addition of a Great Dane! They LOVE to come out to the ranch and go hiking. My photography was fortunate enough to grace the cover of Cody & Beyond & feature pictures of the area & the Cody Rodeo in the 2011-2013 magazine.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004
I loved the fact that I could be close to the mountains and yet when family and friends visit we could be close to TWO tourist towns and Yellowstone Park. We never run out of things to do! The mountains are so close and beautiful, and there is a wonderful view in every direction being up so high. Also a big factor is that even though the ranch is private , it is paved up to where the property starts. I can hike right off from the cabin & the Shoshonee National Forest is in the backyard. BLM land backs up behind the cabin so there is plenty of open space. Hiking in the Clarks Fork Canyon is such an experience, hearing the rush of the river, spotting wildlife, glorious views. Picturing the calvary chasing down Cheif Joseph and his tribe many years ago. Best is getting up, sipping coffee and watching the sunrise over the Big Horn's 80 miles to the East, and the colors glowing on the mountains behind you.
Enjoy complete privacy & be born free as you will be the only guest at the ranch! Peacefulness, great fishing, hiking in the mountains with many access trails. Seeing the wildlife run free, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, fresh air and awesome night skies with no city lights. I like the fact that historical figure Jeremiah Johnson used to frequent the area. There was a gunfight in the canyon & Cheif Joseph crossed through here when the calvary was in pursuit. There is a lot of history and you can feel it.
The cabin itself is so unique with hand tooled logs right from the Rocky Mountains! The decor is all 'old west', and you really feel a wonderful 'western experience'!
The ranch is pet friendly for pets and horses too. It feels good to think that Hall of Fame Cowboy, Buck Taylor, from 'Gunsmoke', used to own the cabin. You can listen to the coyote's and wolves howl while sitting at your bonfire at night, and really feel like you are in another era. There is plenty of cut firewood at the ranch for your use.
I also send my visitor's a travel planner packet. It has brochure's of activities in the Cody, Lovell, Red Lodge & Yellowstone area. I also include maps of the area, hiking trails, and fishing spot's.
Visitor's may plan well in advance their vacation time. This has gone over well & has proved to be very helpful to vacationer's.
This cabin was a cozy home away from home for our family. We enjoyed our stay so much we didn't want to leave. The kids enjoyed every bit of it. It was a wonderful place, and we will definitely be back.
This little cabin was so cozy and felt like we were in a cowboy movie! The wood burning stove in the master bedroom warmed up the whole place. The loft was perfect for our three boys! We enjoyed the beautiful view out the kitchen windows each morning while we cooked breakfast. If we ever get the opportunity to go back to Cody, we will definitely stay here again!
Our stay at Debbi's cabin was everything we had wished for and more. We ended up getting in late the first night from Yellowstone and immediately we felt right at home! The cabin has everything you could need and waking up in the morning to see the sunrise was spectacular. Jerry the caretaker also called the next morning to check on everything. Our dog also was extremely happy with all the room to roam, we appreciated that he was welcomed at the property. I would absolutely recommend visiting this property and you will have a hard time trying to leave!!
Debbi, TY so very much for letting us stay at your home and accommodating us on short notice. We were cozy and loved your cabin. Decor is darling. (We should bring the kids next time, they'll love it).
Jerry, TY for your patience for these 2 city slickers who were totally lost without GPS. Enjoyed all the stars, the waves from neighbors. Cabin has everything you'll need.
(Bring groceries. No stores nearby)
Our stay at Debbi's ranch was absolutely perfect and was everything we wished for. From the moment you open the front door you feel the warmth of the cozy but spacious cabin. The rustic decor returns you to the simple laid back times. As we relaxed on the wrap around porch we saw picture perfect sun rise and sunsets. Animals wander through the property as they make their way to the creek below. The caretaker Jerry stopped to visit with us and made sure everything was okay.
The owner Debbi provided information in a timely manner and answered every question before as well as during our stay. We will certainly vacation again at the Go Away Ranch. Don't forget to wave at all who pass by. The friendliest place on earth and definitely a little piece of Gods Heaven.
Must see attractions: Cody Rodeo, Irma's Saloon, Cody shoot outs, Cooke City, Redlodge and the museum tour.
I have a habit of choosing our vacation rentals through a gut feeling, and knock on wood, it has always worked out for our travels. This same gut feeling had me choose this rental and we are so happy that my gut didn't lead us astray. Before we arrived, Debbie had mailed us travel brochures, etc that proved very helpful during our stay. The cabin is private, sits on a hill overlooking the area, and has a MAGNIFICENT wrap-around deck that proved so relaxing. The cabin has a cozy feel (with great art placement) but has plenty of space for our relatives to stop by and have dinner then sit outside and make s'mores by the firepit. Our dogs loved the area, it was close to the creek, had plenty of room to run, and the gravel road below had very little traffic (and the people who drove by all waved, what a great, friendly community). The caretaker called to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us several ideas for our travels. I wish we had more time to enjoy the cabin since we were on a tight schedule, but look forward to visiting again and sitting on that great deck enjoying the peace and quiet.
Hint: Before you arrive, stop by a grocery store in Red Lodge or Cody since the closest store/bar/restaurant, The Edelweiss, only carries bare essentials (no toilet paper, but has Dinty Moore stew).
Perfect for star gazers with the naked eye or telescope. Back yard view of the Beartooth Mountains. Superb trailheads into the mountains. Private access to fish on Line Creek. Wonderful wild life viewing from your porch. Excellent fishing on the last wilderness river in Wyoming-The Clark's Fork Of The Yellowstone River!
