Bernie and Jose Mercado, Bernie purchased the vacant land in 2002, while on Vacation with the family. My Father Louie, told Jose and I, not to sit on the land, But rather to build a home. So that's what we did. After 2 years we started building with family, and finished. Our plans are to share it with our family, and friends, and most of all for everyone to enjoy our beautiful little piece of heaven.
Bernie owner purchased this cottage in 2002

My husband and I had such a wonderful relaxing time in this beautiful, clean vacation Yurt. Such a welcoming warm, easy to feel right at home magical getaway from it all, place to stay in an incredible out of the way location. Can't say enough about the ocean views, seen easily out front windows and from lovely outside deck. The hosts Bernie and Jose are such delightful hosts. Had everything we needed, nice assortment of pantry items, dishes and utensils, easy to be able to cook. Great to have washer and dryer and most all the comforts of home. Really nicely decorated and just enchanting. We can highly recommend this great Yurt for anyone vacationing in this area. So much better than any Hotel room. Wait until you see that ocean view for yourself. Second to none, we loved it, we are very much looking forward to another chance to enjoy another stay there.
Gorgeous Yurt tucked away in Shelter Cove just 2 mins from the beautiful Lost Coast. We traveled 7 hours from Reno NV for a sweet Valentines getaway & were treated to this beautiful vacation home! Beautifully decorated, extremely cozy everything you could imagine and more! Amenities were plentiful all you needed to bring was groceries everything else was provided! Extremely clean and Bernie the owner is an extremely gracious & very kind Person. The Yurt is 2 mins away from the gorgeous Shelter Cove beach you can see it from the Yurt! I would recommend this vacation home a million times over it's gorgeous & in a gorgeous part of the Northern California Coast tucked away on the Lost Coast, will vacation here again for sure!
Thank You again for a beautiful time!

Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Round Yurt as well as the spacious living quarters. Everything you need is there and the nice bed, kitchen and recliners were appreciated. Also a nice bathroom. The area is wonderful for the outdoors person and has many hiking trails and long stretches of beach to explore. Lastly you can see the stars while laying in bed through the top skylight, how cool is that.
Our stay in this 12-sided yurt overlooking the Pacific was just perfect! The property included all amenities to celebrate our engagement, was very clean and well maintained. The owner, Bernie made certain we were comfortable and happy with our stay. The weather cooperated on our final day to enjoy walking along the coast! We enjoyed a great sunset from the large deck, and enjoyed watching the antics of the resident deer that roam freely on the property. We hearily recommend staying at this well-appointed yurt for a minimum of three days, to take in all the sights!
First of all let me say that we love this place. We stayed last Feb. and had a lovely time. This time being unaware of cable cancelation was a bit of a drag. After dinner and some games we like to sit and watch some tv or movies. The lighting is just not condusive to reading. Although there were movies at the house most were not to our liking. We had brought a few things but since we were there for a week ran out quickly. The video store is SC does not like or mostly won't rent to nonresidents. We lucked out the owner was gone and the substitute let us rent. If we had known about the cable we would have been prepared. We had lunch from the deli a couple of days, it was quite good. We also enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table and watching the ocean or the local herd of deer. I have already recommended the property to friends. Glenna was so sweet she sent some pants back that I had left in the dryer. We are hoping to return in 2015. Thank you Bernie for the lovely little house.
We were pleasantly surprised by Bernie's round house, particularly by the beautiful ocean view. The house is very inviting, light, and comfortable. We loved having a washer and dryer (fear of poison oak from hiking) and the DVD player for late night movie watching was an added plus. In all of our interactions with Bernie, she was very accommodating and friendly. We went to Shelter Cove to take advantage of hiking in the Lost Coast without the camping, and it was an absolutely perfect experience. The Lost Coast is spectacular! We hiked in higher areas where the sun was shining during the day, and by the time we returned to Bernie's in the late afternoon the fog had cleared every day! The Black Sand Beach was also the perfect landing place for post-hiking picnics and gentle strolls. If you're thinking of going, you'll be so happy you did!
This houses was so unusual. Although it was yurt shaped it was spacious inside with towering ceilings and a magnificent view.
A bottle of wine was waiting for us on arrival and the place was immaculate inside and out. Although there were houses nearby we didn't have any noises issues.
The view was so beautiful you'll have to see it to believe it.
