PRINCE PIPPIN’S ROOM

Frankenau Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description

Classic ambience, sauna, spa, hiking, romance, weddings, meetings

Bärenmühle is one of five former watermills in the charming valley of Lengeltal near Edersee. The property is surrounded by the faint noise of a torrent, and is an ideal base for spa and hiking holidays, for cycling tours and active relaxation. The mill is also a classy venue for meetings, seminars, family reunions and romantic weddings. Rooms, suites and apartments are located in three historic buildings of fondly restored monument and are furnished with fine antiques. Our chef prepares delicacies from fresh local produce. The spa program is very purely natural: It includes a sauna house, massage, natural pond and a park-like landscape garden. We also offer yoga, Pilates classes and guided hikes in the footsteps of old miller in our beautiful valley. Bärenmühle is ideal for all seasons for people who love nature, culture and peace. * Garden-Eden-property

Oasis of peace in the heart of Germany: Bärenmühle lies where fox and rabbit say 'Good night' to each other and yet in the centre of Germany: Hamburg, Berlin and Munich can be reached via the train station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe within two to four hours. Even from Rome or New York it is just a short hop here via Frankfurt airport - all paths lead to Bärenmühle, into the heart of silence. So it is also ideal for families from different regions, who want to meet for a common holiday. There is not only nature surrounding Bärenmühle, but you can also discover a lot of culture: from the Cistercian monastery Haina, birthplace of the painter Goethe-Tischbein, through Arolsen Castle, the Hessen's miniature Versailles, to the Thonet Museum in Frankenberg with its unique panorama of the art of seating furniture (from Viennese coffeehouse chair to Bauhaus armchair), there are many treasures to explore - and if it is only the 'wild men' at the beautifully restored half-timbered houses in the region.

Romantic wedding, successful conference: With its romantic location, seclusion and the special ambience, Bärenmühle is an ideal place for weddings, family reunions, corporate seminars and retreats. Inquire about our arrangements for romantic wedding: Civil wedding in the historic Huguenot barn in the nearby Louisendorf, carriage ride through the forest to Bärenmühle, festive dinner at the swimming pond, in our elegant premises or on the paved courtyard inside Bärenmühle - and afterwards: dance until morning in the tiled hall. Even for business meetings and retreats, we offer a special service - from complete supply with local culinary delights, Pilates and massage service up to guided tours or special outdoor and adventure offers. And lastly, the conference venue - a light-flooded conference room with magnificent vistas of the landscape, which has all the technical equipments.

Hiking holiday in enchanting nature: Hikers find Bärenmühle as an ideal domicile: Right in front of the doorstep are the most beautiful hiking trails, they lead hikers through quiet green valleys and idyllic forest landscapes. Here you can wander for hours through pristine natural landscapes, without crossing even one highway. Relaxation after the hike is offered through a massage by our physiotherapist or in the cosy sauna house with fireplace, which we always reserve exclusively for the respective guests.

Details for Prince Pippin’s room 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2

It was in the prime medieval ages, when the French Prince Pippin, called 'the young one', should have been drawn to our quiet valley: According to the legend, he struck a battle on a hill above Bärenmühle against the Saxons - that should have happened in the year 753. This beautiful ground floor apartment located in our house Huguenots got its name from Pippin. It consists of two merging rooms that offer great views of the scenery, and is elegantly furnished with fine antiques, a truly royal bed and a comfortable sofa in Biedermeier style. The apartment is equipped with a kitchenette, four-burner stove and dishwasher, as well as a shower bath with under floor heating. A private terrace and a fireplace are part of it. One floor above, the Grimm Brothers parlours are located in the Huguenot House - which is why both apartments can excellently connect to a holiday home, which then provides space for up to eight persons.

A retreat for mind and body

  • 5 of 5
My partner and I originally came across The Bear's Mill through another website featuring renovated castles. We are so glad we did, because staying here was one of the highlights of our five week tour of Germany. We still talk about the charm and peacefulness of this place a year later. The dinners were always fresh and excellent. When my partner was not feeling well, the local doctor, who happened to pass by on his bike, came back with medicine for no charge. There is a great road to run on (a big loop) where you will be greeted by local cows, a scary barking dog who is actually harmless, cats and ducks. The scenery is beautiful and I recommend this place for anyone who wants peace away from built up areas, needs time to pursue artistic endeavors, or wants some romantic time with a sweetheart. The sisters who run the mill are extremely friendly and helpful. And Lola, the outdoor cat from New York, is a great addition who you may find waiting at your door.

It was a joy.

Our week in Konig Pipins in June'09 was delightful. The apartment was beautiful - well laid out, lots of space (just two of us) and pristine -and with a lovely little garden by the river. We were welcomed and helped whenever necessary. We spent our time walking - for miles.
A car is necessary - for getting there, shopping and eating out.
We would recommend this wholeheartedly and hope to go back ourselves.
