Photos and Description of the Reedville vacation house rental
4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, sleeps 8

Scenic waterfront retreat, 'Sea Glass Cottage,' one acre on deep water w/private dock and 2 boat slips, gorgeous views on private cove in a rural setting. 10 min. boat ride to Chesapeake Bay. World class fishing on the Bay, canoeing, exploring Bridge Creek, or crab from our dock. Bring your own boat, launch at community ramp, or hire 'Captain Dave' w/ 20yrs. experience fishing the Bay: owner can arrange exclusive scenic boat tours, fishing excursions, or water taxi to pristine Bay beach in nature preserve. Bike around historic Reedville, tour the Fisherman's Museum, visit a local winery, or have an authentic crab feast delivered right to your dock. Canoe, bikes, floats available for your use. Country home with beachy decor, games, cable TV, washer/dryer, fully furnished and equipped. Just bring a bathing suit and enjoy the scenic sunrise over the water, osprey in their nests, and great fishing, boating, and waterfront fun and relaxation.

Step back in time to simpler days...: A visit to Reedville, VA is like stepping back in time to simpler days when kids could just be kids, when you could bike to the country store and hardly see a car, when the night sky was filled with zillions of stars, when the only sound to be heard on a summer night was crickets and the occasional frog, when most everything closed on Sundays and there was truly a 'day of rest.' The unspoiled scenic waterfront, uncrowded beaches, and limited boat traffic make this an ideal spot to relax and reconnect with nature, family, friends, and your own spirit.

'Sea Glass Cottage': We named our home Sea Glass Cottage since we are 'beach combers' and love to stroll the white sand beach at a nearby nature preserve hunting for polished sea glass and other beach treasures, many of which we have on display around our home - osprey feathers, polished rocks, unusual shells, driftwood, etc.

Exploring the Northern Neck: The Northern Neck is a wonderful area to explore, by land or by sea. There are beaches nearby, the Reedville Fisherman's Museum, the Northern Neck 'Wine Trail,' antique and beach shops, and many creeks to explore by kayak, canoe, or motor boat. There are also well-known attractions within a 2-hour drive, such as Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, etc.

About Jeannie Finnegan

We are large family with 8 children, 6 of which are still at home or in college. Their ages range from 11-25. We purchased our home years ago after we had fallen in love with the area when my mom moved there. One of my brothers also lives in the area. As the children have gotten older, it's become more difficult to use our house as often as we would like, and so we are sharing it with others - we hope you will come and stay in our home and fall in love with the rural waterfront beauty and slower pace of life, as we did! ~ Jeannie

Why Jeannie Finnegan chose Reedville

I come from a family history of watermen - my grandfather fished the creeks around the Bay his whole life, and a great-grandfather is buried in Kilmarnock. One of my brothers lives in the area and owns a seafood business; he has been fishing, crabbing, and oystering in the Bay for over 20 years now. My mom moved to the area many years ago as well, though to my great sadness, she passed away several years ago. She is the one who found our house for us when we were looking for property. I have a great emotional connection to the area, but also just love how life is more beautiful and less complicated when we get there..... ~ Jeannie

What makes this house unique

What we love most about our home, I think, is the beautiful setting - the view from the family room, the master bedroom, the dock. We love the giant oak trees, and the large flat lot that is great for games of wiffle ball and frisbee. We absolutely love the quiet nature preserve beach that is accessible only by boat - on weekdays, we have often been the only boat at the beach! We love that we can bike into town, or do a day trip to Busch Gardens. And we love the quiet, simple, slower life we live when we are down there. We hope you will, too!

We got away from it all and had an amazing time!

Your house was away from everything, and that's what we wanted. Loved having the boat launch so close. We pulled our kids behind our boat on our inflateable, and they had a blast! The kids canoed around the creek in the evenings.

We really enjoyed the fact that your house was so well-appointed. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the towels and linens were so very nice. The house was clean and neat.

Our 4-month old yellow lab learned to swim off your dock and took her first boat ride to the beach, where she thought she was in heaven!
