Staying on Balboa Island on the Grand Canal is the place! Beautifully decorated in beach theme, this charming cottage sits on the Grand Canal (that separates the big island from the little island, on Balboa Island.)

Large open living room is perfect with a big flat screen TV and DVD player and a cozy fireplace. Beautiful master bedroom with 1/2 bath and flat screen TV. Full bathroom with new tub and shower next to downstairs bedroom. Free standing shower with outside entrance on first floor makes coming from the beach a perfect welcome to your cottage. Big outside patio in front of your private dock with gas BBQ makes for a great entertainment area. Just completed a total kitchen remodel with all new appliances, granite and dishwasher! New flooring and carpet throughout!

Great for fishing and perfect for kayaking and surfing! Don't worry about things to do, because you are only steps away from the main street which offers many shops, restaurants and a local grocery store. Ride your bikes to the ferry and you are on the Balboa Peninsula and have the ocean and 'Fun Zone' to explore.

Only minutes away from Fashion Island, Disneyland, and about an hour to the great LA area!

Great for walking!: The location of the Grand Canal cottage on Balboa Island is great for walking! There are sidewalks around both the large and small islands. You will enjoy all the friendly people each morning and afternoon. If you want to stop and fish, shop or take the ferry over to the peninsula, you are just a walk away!

We are the Hirz family and live locally. The cottage is a special family place for us and we enjoy the relaxed way of life when you cross the bridge!

Notes: This 80 year old cottage is in perfect condition with all new furniture and contents! Sits on the canal with a dock and beautiful view. Directly behind all the shops and restaurants. Walk everywhere or ride your bikes! 1 full bath (with tub and shower), another separate shower with outside door and master has 1/2 bath. Q sofa in the living room can sleep 2. Twin XL beds in the downstairs bedroom and King in the upstairs master. All brand new! No air conditioning..but you don't need it on the Island.

Loved the cottage!

My husband, young baby and I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. It was a great location, right along the canal and 1 block behind the main street. The cottage was perfect for our little family. It was clean and safe, and I loved that it has a laundry room. We cooked several meals on the grill outside and made friends with the owner of the olive oil store on main street. My husband dreams of going back to balboa island and staying here again. I'm sure we'll make it back again soon.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Darling Cottage.....Just right

This darling cottage was just perfect. We arrived on Christmas day and it was beautifuly decorated for the holiday with a christmas tree complete with an electric train around the base of the tree. The 2 bedrooms are very comfortable. Very nice new,clean bedding with very comfortable beds. The King size fold out bed is even comfortable. It is so cozy to sleep on the fold out bed in front of the lovely gas fireplace. The kitchen is fully stocked, bathrooms very clean. The location is perfect. It is fun to watch walkers along the grand canal but also nice to be off the busy street. This cottage is located 1/2 block of the main street of Balboa take a small path off the alley way and you will arrive at Cinnamon Roll Faire for the most amazing sweet rolls.... get there early!
The weather during our stay was very cold but we were so comfortable in this quaint home. We enjoyed the front patio every time the sun came out! You will throughly enjoy your Balboa vacation in this home.

Very relaxing

My husband, daughter, her boyfriend and I stayed in this charming cottage during the Thanksgiving week. The weather was beautiful and we decided to host dinner for my entire family. The kitchen was suprisingly well equiped. Cocktails on the patio overlooking the Grand Canal set the tone. Each bedroom is very private and the beds comfortable. We enjoyed being able to walk into town for meals and took advatage of the bikes to ride over the ferry to the beach. The living area is comfortable and the big windows overlooking the water, combined with the fireplace made it extremely relaxing day and night. I would stay here again!

I grew up in LA and my family for 20 years! Staying here, in your lovely home brought back many memories. I remember water skiing in the back bay, walking down Marine Ave, and eating frozen bananas at Dad's! I also remember when the ferries wheel cost a dime!
Your home is so beautiful. We had a couple of days of rain and thoroughly enjoyed reading our books in the front room with the fireplace and looking out on the canal. Thanks so much for sharing your home!
