Secluded and Comfortable

We rented this cottage sight unseen from the VRBO website. What a find! The pictures of the cottage only gave a hint of just how wonderful it is. The cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable, and offered the latest electronic amenities. Being on the bluff, the views of Lake Michigan and the glorious sunsets were framed by the branches of the trees reaching up from below. The yard was well kept and offered serene settings to sit & read on the rustic lawn swing or enjoy a late dinner on the deck. Evening breezes rustled through the trees as we sat by the fire pit or swung in the hammock while overlooking the sunset. The weather was perfect when we were there, but if the weather had turned stormy, the 2 big screen TV's and extensive DVD collection would have kept us well occupied.
We especially loved the secluded setting, set back 500 feet or so from the road, and shielded by trees from the adjacent cottages. Most of our mornings and evenings were spent at the cottage just relaxing. Afternoons we went exploring: walking to (very!) nearby to Good Hart General Store and small boutiques, dipping in the Lake at the Good Hart beach, driving the Tunnel of Trees to Harbor Springs, an afternoon in quaint Petosky, swimming and beach walking on the sandy shores of Sturgeon Bay, trail hiking in Wilderness State Park and stargazing at Headlands Nature Reserve.
We had occasion to communicate with both Ted and Pat who were more than helpful with our questions about the cottage, the location, what to bring etc. They also can give you the link to their website just for Good Hart Cottage. All in all, a wonderful week of R&R for us two mid-years professionals.
