Oceanfront property with a commanding east-facing view of Goosewing and South Shore Beaches, Westport, Buzzard's Bay and Martha's Vineyard. Sitting deck on the rocks at the cliff, suspended above the water. Excellent snorkeling, swimming and surfing in the waters along the cliff. With plenty of space and beds, this house is fully equipped with everything a family could need while at the beach. 3 levels: upper level with king-size bed and private deck. Lower level walkout to large yard that stretches out to the ocean. Recently renovated living and dining area and beautiful deck off kitchen. Easy to get to the beach (with lifeguards) or just stay at home and enjoys cocktails while watching the ocean.
We just completed a wonderful week in Little Compton. Pictures don't do it justice - this is an incredible location. The lawn is very large and perfect for frisbee, bocce, wiffle ball, etc. I could spend the rest of my life taking in the view from the deck with a drink in hand.
Now the details: house was clean and well-maintained. Living/dining room is a spectacular room with floor to ceiling windows looking out to ocean, beautiful wood floors, beautiful fireplace, nice dining table with seating for 8. Bose wave radio with iPod/iPhone connector. Wireless internet worked well. TV with basic cable and dvd. Deck was large and very well constructed with nice table/chairs. No gas grill but large charcoal grill with starter chimney. Kitchen is dated but very functional. Floor is carpeted in kitchen which was hard to get used to. Upstairs king bedroom is incredible with high ceiling and private balcony. Main floor bedrooms with queen beds are dated but comfortable. Main floor bathroom also dated but double sink, adequate bath/shower. Downstairs bedroom (ground level) with comfortable queen bed, second bathroom, and full size futon bed. Downstairs shower was not very inviting and was not used. No outdoor shower (only negative of the house for me).
3 minute drive to Little Compton Town Beach. Walking with kids from this house not recommended - exposed stretch of road at end of Ocean Drive until entry into town beach without sidewalks. Weekly pass is $40. I may be biased because I spent most of my childhood at this beach, but it is the most perfect beach on the planet. If you walk down away from parking, you will find a wide beach with great swimming, a huge salt pond that is fun for swimming/crabbing, and a rocky area in the middle of the beach great for animal exploration at low tide. House well-equipped with chairs and boogie boards.
We did not swim from the rocky shore by the house. Lots of exploration and skipping rocks with kids but definitely could not swim with kids there. Stairwell to beach was in great condition and surrounded by honeysuckle.
Customer service provided by owner's realtor was extremely attentive. Minor issues were resolved very quickly and phone calls/emails made.
Overall, this is an incredible property on a spectacular stretch of coastline, located minutes from a wonderful beach. I would love to stay at this property again in the future.
Little Compton is rural in nature and boasts beautiful beaches, ponds and recreational areas, as well as local farms and farmstands, fine arts and antiques. Antique, fine art, decorative craft and boutique shops can also be found just minutes away in nearby Tiverton Four Corners and Westport’s Central Village. Our scenic roads are attractive to bike riding, running and walking.
Little Compton has a small, local general store — Wilburs General Store — in the Commons, which sells groceries, small hardware and household items, as well as wonderful gifts and toys. We also have a local gas station and convenience store, Earles, located just beyond the
Commons on Meeting House Lane and right next to Goularts Package Store (beer, wine & liquor). For a more extensive grocery selection, Lees Market is just a short drive away (±10 miles) in Westport. Little Compton also has a post office, The Art Café coffee shop, art galleries, and both a Sovereign Bank/ATM and a Bank of America ATM. There are also a few restaurants right in and around the Commons: A1 Pizza (pizza, sandwiches and salads), The Commons Restaurant (breakfast, lunch & dinner), and Crowthers Restaurant on Pottersville Road (open for lunch and dinner). There are also several seasonal shops, including The Pantry (fresh-baked bread & baked goods, breakfast and lunch items), Wilma’s at Walkers Stand, and The Coop Café at Sakonnet Vineyards.
