This beautiful home is located on a bluff overlooking Lighthouse Beach. It offers a 180-degree vista of the lighthouse, beach and Coos Bay jetty. The 2000 square foot house has private beach access. Each room offers an ocean view.
There is a private stairway to the beach exclusively for our renters. Without public stairs, Lighthouse Beach is difficult to access, making it the ideal destination for a quiet getaway. It is a large sandy beach, with plenty of surf for boarders, wood for bonfires, and tide pools teeming with ocean life. There is something here for everyone in your family! And for those less adventuresome, you can enjoy watching boats crossing the bar and pelicans fishing without setting foot outside.
Our home is walking distance from Shore Acres State Park with botanical gardens, which boasts some of the state’s most beautiful walks along ocean cliffs. During high tides, the surf crashing against the rocks and the resultant spray is one of nature’s spectacular displays. The home is also in close proximity to Sunset Bay, which offers wonderful tidepooling, swimming, and sea kayaking. And for any golfers, we’re just a 30-minute drive from world-renowned Bandon Dunes courses!
I am a retired realtor and native of the Coos Bay area. I enjoy spending time painting, beach combing, and watching sunsets at the beach home.
The Owner purchased this house in 1979
My late husband Daryle, also a real estate broker, encountered the property when asked to list it by the original owners. We were blown away by its location and breathtaking views, and decided to purchase the property ourselves with the intention of retiring there. We started renting the property for vacations in 1991 and have continued to share it with a loyal clientele from throughout the United States.
We have kept guest books since our first rental, and one of the reoccurring comments notes the home's relaxing atmosphere. We, along with our guests, enjoy strolling on the beach, hiking along the cliffs, sitting in a beach chair enjoying a good book, and watching the varying wildlife. Just this past weekend my son spotted a whale in the lighthouse cove. Each trip is a new adventure. Our property also attracts many people for birthdays, anniversaries, and other family gatherings.
My wife and I rented this wonderful home for 5 days. There is a leap of faith when renting off the internet and we wondered if the reality of this property would live up to its description. Frankly, it was more than we expected! This house was perfect and the scenery was amazing. We spent time walking the beach (glorious), eating fresh salmon (exquisite), and watching the world go by.
I am a photographer and spent a lot of time shooting pictures off of the patio. The opportunities for amazing photo's are endless. I shot hummingbirds, helicopters, the lighthouse, and everything else that crossed my lens.
If you are going to Coos Bay, I would strongly recommend renting from Gail. She was excellent to deal with and the property is first rate. We will definitely be back.
We just got back from a wonderful winter vacation at Lighthouse Beach. This home was built in the 50's but has been maintained well so it fun and quirky. Our children are 7 and 9 and loved exploring all the funny shaped rooms and hiding places. The steps are very steep and would be hard for smaller children, or 75+ but they lead to an amazing beach so it is worth the trip down. There were 3 1/2 rooms. One is not mentioned in the listing. It is a large closet with a spare bed. It wouldn't be great for an adult but my children argued over who got to sleep in it:) The location is wonderful. In the summer it would be the perfect walk to a more senior friendly beach at Sunset Bay and a long walk or very short drive to Shore Acres. We had our family of 4, plus 3 grandparents, and 2 widowed ladies. The bed set up worked perfectly and the house was spread out enough for everyone to have their own space. Thank you so much for the chance to make wonderful memories with family and friends. We will be back next summer!
This was our best stay at the beach ever! We visit the Oregon Coast at least once a year, almost always in vacation rentals. This home was clean, unique, comfortable, and quite simply, perfect. My children enjoyed the large fenced yard. We all enjoyed the quiet beach, tide pools and nearby gardens. The view was unbeatable. It was the most relaxing vacation in recent memory. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to go back!
This is one of the loveliest vacation homes I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The wonderful architecture, the lighthouse and ocean views; the fireplace and built-in bookcases, the beautifully painted interior in addition to the tasteful personal touches and elegant art, evoke a sense of peacefulness and serenity unlike anything I've experienced elsewhere. It is an incredible place to "get away from it all" but also for finding the time to experience the unique atmosphere of the Oregon Coast!
I recently visited with my family and we really enjoyed our stay at this charming home. It is well outfitted and the owner is very conscientious about providing what guests will need for their stay. The views are stunning and we hardly wanted to leave the beach. I will definitely come back!
