We rented the property for 1 week to accommodate our wedding/retreat and the entire experience from booking, payment, checking in, stay and checking out was truly exceptional.
The Manager (Marilyn) was very responsive during the entire process and provided helpful information about Port Alberni. She was really easy to work with and provided great customer service. The Inn Keeper (Joanne) provided a detailed orientation during check in and showed up on time for check out/inspection. The lodge is well appointed with everything you could possibly ever need during your stay. Restrooms have shampoo/body wash and towels/face clothes. Kitchen is the best part - fully stocked with every appliance, pot/pan, cutlery, tool and stemware you could imagine along with a nice big fridge & freezer. Lots of comfortable seating inside and out and the firewood/kindling is all prepped for you. The lodge is fairly well maintained inside and out and it is a short walk to the river (it has a small bank). Within 10 - 15 min drive to all major amenitites and the Beaver Creek Market down the road is very convenient for odds/ends.
I'd recommend this property to anyone looking for a casual, rustic, venue for a family reunion, corporate retreat or wedding. The only negative comments I'd share for more discerning guests are - the bed linens didn't match, there were plastic flowers/dried arrangments used throughout the lodge, there were a few dust bunnies/cobwebs in the window sills, the BBQ was dirty and needed to be cleaned before use. For us, these things didn't matter one bit because we liked the rustic appeal of the lodge but I wanted to share in case another traveller was expecting a prestine/boutique hotel type lodge.
We LOVED our stay at the Riverside Lodge and are already planning our 5 year reunion!! Lovely, magical place that is really unique and great value for the dollar.
Local shout outs - If you need a butcher, Rick at Double R Meats is great. Joanne at Taylor's Flowers was very helpful and her flowers were very high quality. I'd recommend EM Spa for any treatments and Marilyn arranged table/chair rental for us from a local supplier which were delivered on time.

Our laundromat service and change over days fell on a closed day for our service provider. Normally they are all color co-ordinates, The BBQ and window sill dust - our fault! An oversight from our housekeeping team and we feel badly about it....our apologies.
