The Cottage's neighborhood:
The cottage is located in a sleeper waterfront town of Bacliff, just a few blocks from the bay and two miles from the Kemah Boardwalk. This is a quite neighborhood with lots of mature oak trees. It is very quite and very interesting also diverse to be waterfront . You will see trailers, cottages, and beautiful water front homes. There are a couple of very nice restaurants (Noah’s Ark and Clifton’s on the Bay) a few blocks down the road looking out into the bay. You can ride bicycles to, and is a very popular sport with the locals. Galveston County is very popular with Harley enthusiast. Bikers' come from all over Texas to Galveston and these restaurants are one of their hot spots. If you like to ride Harley's there is a place you can rent one a few miles down the road in Kemah off 146. The little town of San Leon is a mile down the road. Dusty Hill with ZZ Top has a beautiful water front home in San Leon.
Two miles from Kemah Boardwalk :
You can walk to the Kemah Light House District from the boardwalk. It offers specialty shops; more restaurants that are very popular with locals.Most bar’s have live bands and there is akso the Mystery Dinner Theatre. Here are the names of a few popular places, T-Bone Tom's (popular steak and BBQ), Claudio’s Piano Bar, Monkey Bar, and Mystery Dinner Theatre. A local magazine called the Scene will be provided for you at the Kemah Cottage that will provide restaurants, bars with a schedule of band entertainments and local events in the Kemah Clearlake area. You can also pick one up in most of the local restaurants.
Boating in Kemah, Clearlake and Area Attractions:
The Clearlake, Kemah area is the 3rd largest boating capital. There are many marinas located along Clearlake which goes past the Kemah Boardwalk into Galveston Bay. Boat owners will take the ship channel from Galveston Bay to Galveston Island for a weekend. On Clearlake you will see lots of boating, as well as jet skiing and some kayaking. There are bars and restaurants (To name a couple include the Turtle Club and Sam’s boat) you will enjoy watching the Wednesday night sail boat races and other water activities.
There are many other attractions from Downtown Houston to Clearlake, Kemah and Galveston Texas you won’t want to miss. There are free family events at Space Center Houston, Downtown Houston events, Sports and many other events held at Reliant Stadium, Moody Gardens, and Historical Homes to tour in Galveston, the Strand in old town Galveston and off course beach fun. The list of fun things to do is very lengthy to mention here.
