Private Lakefront Cabin Retreat on Lake Roy in Endless Mountains-SKI ELK MT

We spent a week at the Lake Roy house in early June 2011. We have 3 children, ages 4, 12 and 13 and they all had a wonderful time!! The kids had lots to do, and when they needed to just chill out, they could watch tv and movies. My boys spent many hours in the game room, on the kayak, fishing and swimming. My daughter loved being able to run out the back door and the water was right there. I put her life jacket on her and I could just relax in the hammock while she was splashing the water just a few feet away. She loved fishing and easily caught 2 big bass. My husband did a lot of fishing, and loved how close we were, so that he wasn't off away from the family the whole time he was fishing. I was pleasantly suprised to find the kitchen had all the comforts of home. I didn't expect all the small appliances, but they had everything I could have wanted!! Blender, microwave, toaster, mixer, coffee maker, even an espresso machine!! It was really easy to just settle in and be very comfortable there. We were only about a 20minute drive from Binghamton, so we took the kids to the zoo and chuck e cheese. Montrose was even closer, only a few miles and we could get groceries, pizza, McDonalds, even a movie theater. You had the beauty of the lake and the quiteness of being away from everything, but then only a few miles away you could get anything you needed. All the rooms in the cabin were cheery and inviting, everyone slept very well. We have Verizon cell phones and had no problem getting service anywhere on the property. Peter Meerwarth was very gracious and accomodating, he was always available to help and quickly replied to all of my emails. Our family has never rented a vacation home before . In the past we would spend a week in a motel when on vacation, we are now sold on renting a home and we will DEFINITELY do it again. I would love to see all that Lake Roy had to offer in the winter! As we left all 3 of my children asked when we could come back.

We fell in love with this place during our first visit a few years back in February. In winter it is the quietest winter wonderland you could imagine. It’s a super cozy romantic getaway for two but it can easily accommodate a large family or group with its large kitchen, dining area, large yard, many bedrooms and game room/lounge. We’ve spent several long weekends at Lake Roy during different seasons and each time has been a delightful new adventure.
Our most recent trip was last week and it was amazing. I enjoyed the sunshine on the deck with a good book and my husband lost count of how many nice sized fish he caught from the shore in front of the home.
If you’re looking for peace and quiet and want to get away from it all (but stay connected if you choose and be only a short drive for all necessities) this is the place for you. If you’re adventurous this is also the place for you. There are many activities, attractions and things to enjoy in beautiful North East PA with this comfy, well appointed cottage to return to.
