About W Wood

I have lived in Northern New Mexico for over 10 years after spending almost 20 in Paris, France (yes, I speak French :-) ). I have a degree in architecture and design and have also dabbled in Land Art. I have tried to make Casa Paloma not only esthetically pleasing, but a true "respite" for recharging our batteries in our busy world!

W Wood purchased this condo in 2008

Why W Wood chose Taos

All of our guests have loved Casa Paloma and many come back as regulars. Often they'll tell me that they loved being in the casa so much that they'd eat at home and relax at home instead. Guests also love the numerous artwork throughout the casa, many done by members of my family (wonderful artists!). The reviews in our Guestbook say it all!

What makes this condo unique

At Casa Paloma, you will truly feel the 'peacefulness' of this lovely home. Walk in the door and relax in a soothing yet sophisticated decor. It is beautiful and yet very cozy! Enjoy the private patio with its hot tub and little garden complete with flowers, grass (except when covered by snow!), a tree and view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A private quiet peaceful hidden get-away, yet close to stores, restaurants, etc. Even the UPS man was surprised at how we are in the center of town and yet hidden away!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've enjoyed our stay at Casa Paloma and agree with all the reasons stated by your other guests. We too have rented many different houses in Taos in the 80's & 90's but not in recent years. We very much like your contemporary southwest decor and design - a nice light touch and we were surprised to find it well stocked in the kitchen - too bad we stopped by the grocery before we came to the house! Very nice to find real flowers and a pizza in the freezer! (which we didn't eat, but it could have come in handy). Lambert's restaurant was as good as we remembered. Happy to find a few "old friends" left on the restaurant scene. Best, Kathleen & Allen Lebeck (from Albuequerque, NM) and Elissa Lebeck (from New York City)

Comfy and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

What a great place for a get-away in Taos! Quick drive to downtown. Lots of room and very comfortable. Tastefully decorated and furnished. All the comforts anyone could need. Wireless worked great. Radiant floor heat kept the feet and space nice and warm. Gas fireplace was a special feature (but not really needed). AND.....the outdoor spa was heaven after a great day of skiing. We'll be back!

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at Casa Paloma. It was full of New Mexico charm! It was like a home away from home and even had everything we needed to make a nice meal, and my son loved playing with the toys he found! The radiant heat was also nice on all of our feet! This is a great place to stay!

Magical Christmas!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first out-of-town Christmas and once we stepped into the lovely Casa Paloma we were greeted by a beautiful Christmas tree, already clad with presents for each of us! Totally unexpected but so wonderful to help set the holiday mood!

The house is located in the heart of Taos, but tucked away in a cozy cul de sac which is nice and very private.

The accommodations were amazing. We couldn't believe how comfortable the beds were. The kitchen had everything we needed for a few home cooked meals and enjoying the gas fireplace (which really disbursed a nice heat) was also a welcomed backdrop on a cold December night. (Not to mention, the doggie bed just beaneath was extremely loved by our pug, Molly.) ;)

If you're wanting to head up the mountain for adventure, the ski bus will meet you at the end of the street for a quick ride to the slopes! Totally convenient if others want to stick around town and keep the car to shop or take in lunch.

This was seriously a magical trip for our family and Winton did a fantastic job making it one of the best trips we've ever had!!

Everything was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I enjoyed every minute that we spend at Casa Paloma. The location was very convenient for all of our travels around the area, and the area was safe and quiet. The casa had everything we needed and even more--the extras in the kitchen made it easy to eat in for a few meals. I would recommend this property for anyone wishing to spend a little time in Taos.

What a treat!!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at Casa Paloma on a girl's getaway with my sister out from California and my pooch Belle.

I can't recommend this place enough. It was such a treat. Every comfort of home is provided for and it's obvious from the moment you walk in that it's exactly as the pictures and description portray.

The private patio garden was a treat on warm evenings. Easy access to down town. We had plans to go out to restaurants but loved being in the place so much we bought food in instead. Our dog loved the comforts provided for her too!

Thank you Winton! Will definitely try to make a return trip.

Modern, Quiet, Beautiful, Charming... what more could you want??!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed, with another couple, at Casa Paloma and look forward to coming back! Every communication from the owner was very friendly, patient, helpful, and quick. Our dog was made especially welcome with a clean bed and there was a special spot with food/water bowls waiting for her. The home was very clean and modern. Every need seemed well-thought-out, we didn't have to run to the store to purchase something we couldn't find or that wasn't there.

The furniture in the living area was COMFORTABLE and attractive which we appreciated especially while reading the local papers/magazines making plans for the next day. This property has a charming back patio area: a large table under cover which allows you to hang out and stay dry during the afternoon rain/thunderstorm which opens to grassy area with a huge shade tree to keep the heat down plus a small flower garden... it is simply charming! We didn't have enough time to enjoy the barbeque or the hot tub - hopefully next time.

The location was quiet with no road/traffic noise (it is located on a gravel drive with a few neighbors so that is the only thing you hear, the very-occasional crunching of gravel). It is an easy-to-find location.

I would definitely recommend this property to friends/relatives. THANK YOU!!!
