'Lazy Days' is the third cabin we built on 60 private acres of property here in the small Mennonite community of Muddy Pond. It was a priority for us to maintain seclusion for each cabin while finding a beautiful spot for building. We decided on a hemlock ringed area with just a short walk out to a private gazebo set out on the same 2 1/2 acre pond as Whippoorwill Hideaway shares. We believe you will fall in love with this beautiful, peaceful oasis where you can sit on the porch and do absolutely nothing without any guilt. If you enjoy fishing then you'll appreciate the dock by the gazebo where you can fish for bass or bluegill.
The cabin is only built for 2 and is one open room except for a central fireplace and the private bathroom. It includes a king-size bed with a two-person Jacuzzi beside it. The living room is cozy and you can bring videos to watch on a DVD or VHS player for the quiet evenings. The full back porch is supplied with rockers and a view that is beautiful.
Just a short walk over a little bridge leads to a gazebo out on the water where you can fish or sit in the porch swing.
As soon as you turn in the winding country road tightly hemmed by evergreens you will begin to feel the difference in atmosphere. You've come apart from the rest of the world and this time is just for you - just the two of you.
We live in and the cabin rental is surrounded by the small Mennonite community of Muddy Pond. There are unique shops here and some good eating at the General Store, Country Porch and Bachen Haus. Horse lovers will enjoy the Leather Shops and nature lovers will appreciate the serenity and natural beauty that is all around. In the fall watch the old time sorghum mills operate. If you've made this your vacation destination than you may want to go farther afield to the Big South Fork which offers: Horseback Riding, Fishing, White Water Rafting and Hiking; or to Fall Creek Falls, Picket and Cumberland State parks which have: Scenic Trails, Swimming and Boating; Local Wineries, Historic Sights of the Cordell Hull birthplace, Alvin York home place or historic Rugby . The Cumberland is alive with history and beauty. It's a place to relax and reflect and become acquainted with the real Tennessee. Step back to a simpler time and create a precious memory.

Farther away: Big South Fork which offers, White Water Rafting and Hiking, Fall Creek Falls, Picket and Cumberland State parks have, Scenic Trails, Swimming and Boating, Local Wineries, Historic Sights of the Cordell Hull birthplace, Alvin York home place and historic Rugby are nearby. Crossville is famous for the golf courses and the Cumberland County Playhouse. The main activity here is relaxing and listening to the sounds of silence.
God created a little piece of heaven right here on earth for all of us to enjoy! We never wanted to leave and we will definately be back! Thanks for sharing this beautiful place with the rest of the world.God bless you all.
P.S. Kevin caught a 4 lb. bass and threw him back.
I took my elderly mom on a trip to visit family and found this wonderful cabin. The booking process was hassle free. It was a pleasure to meet Roseanna. What a peaceful environment! Waking up with a view of cattle in the pasture just steps away from our cabin. Plenty of quiet time and beautiful walks through the hemlock forest. I would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to get away from it all. Book early for the autumn - very popular!
What a delightful cabin. It was all that was discribed on the vrbo information. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, yet not far from both Monterey and Crossville. We really liked the cows that came to visit every morning and the fireflies at night!! We rented this cabin to be close to highway 127 and the yearly Worlds Longest Yard Sale. We made many trips back and forth to 127 and got great yard sale items even some we really didn't need. It was always great to come back "home" to our cabin in the woods and enjoy looking at our treasurers...The cabin was very clean and it had everything we needed. It was nice to have the washer and dryer to wash up everything before we headed home. thanks for a delightful time in the woods. We hope to come back another year.
The cabin is pristine as is the hospitality. I have lupus and therefore cannot be exposed to sunshine, so the covered gazebo/dock appealed to me. It was truly heaven to be on the water again for the first time in so many years and not have to worry about the sunshine. My husband and I had so much fun feeding the fish. We aren't much for actually fishing but we adore watching them and the tadpoles/frogs and other pond life! You will love this property!
What a wonderful relaxing place for us to spend some quality time together. We caught sunfish every day. The cinnamon rolls from the bakery next to your office were the best I have tasted. Went to the Sourgum Mill. Made molasses cookies when we returned home with the molasses from the mill. My husband is very allergic to cats and we were concerned about the previous comments. He had no issues at all. Thanks to previous renters for not letting the cat in. I am sure that we will return the first chance we get. Thank you and may God bless you and your family.
We stayed the weekend in the Lazy Days cabin,It looked just like the pictures.
It was so peaceful and relaxing you will not want to leave. It was spotless and yet very warm and welcoming.
I arrived early and the girls went to clean it as the housekeeper had not shown up.
I had spoken to Rosanna on the phone several times and she was very kind and helpful, she had let me know that she would not be there the weekend we stayed ,I would have loved to have met her.her husband Martin and her daughters were all so kind and pleasant.
We will be returning again maybe to check out the other cabins but I'm fond of Lazy Days too the choice will be a tough one.
The gazabo was awesome to just sit in and relax along with sitting on the porch in the swinging chair and the hammock.
We was visited by the cat but just for 1 evening as she moved on to the next cabin to welcome the guests there.
My husband caught a huge catfish but we decided to put him back and we opted for bologna sandwiches for supper instead of him.
We visited the shops in town for a little while but chose to return to the cabin just to enjoy all of Gods creation.
Thanks to the Horsts for making it a wonderful weekend.
My wife and I spent a weekend here for our third anniversary. Unfortunately it was bitterly cold and there was much snow on the ground and we almost thought about not going due to it's location. I am however happy to say we got there without incident. The cabin was clean and well intentioned for a romantic getaway. The pond was frozen but I'm sure would have been fun to fish or take a hike had the weather been warmer. The only incident would be that my wife is allergic to cats and about four hours into our stay she realized a cat frequented the cabin regularly. We went back to monterey and picked up some allergy medicine and she was good to go for the rest of the week. There were no obvious signs of a cat until the next morning when it showed up on the porch. The muddy pond community seemed like a quiet little area and I would have loved to experience it during the spring or summer months. The stay was great and we will most assuredly be going back.
