Just wanted to relax and unwind!

We arrived on a hot afternoon and wanted to go in and relax with a cool beverage, however once we got in, the floors were coated with 1/4" of red dirt. I tried cleaning them with the supplies provided to no avail. (No wonder she dropped our pet deposit) We have a 13lb total indoor Shih Tzu, and promised to cover everything he'd be on with sheets. I'm glad I did cover everything, or the red dirt would be everywhere from just my husband and I.
The full size bed...So Uncomfortable. You'll be better off sleeping on the two twin size beds.
Be careful of the oven, the handle gets as hot as the inside resulting in a burnt hand.
The owner feeds the deer which also inturn attracted a mountain lion or cougar to our back yard staring my husband down.
Sound Relaxing to you???
Owner's Response: Dear Reader,
This review is totally disheartening. I live next door to this rental and have operated it and another one for several years. I have an excellent housekeeper and have never had a complaint about red dirt or any other dirt on the floor or anywhere else. We live in a wooded area with much of the forest floor covered in pine straw, however, as we'd had a great deal of rain earlier that week, there may have been areas where it was washed away. My housekeeper left the floor and Cabin thoroughly cleaned. I do ask that my brand new Lazyboy sofa and other furniture be covered if people bring pets that are allowed on the furniture at home.
During their stay I visited with this couple twice and not one mention was made of their apparent discomfort about the floor, and if it was dirty, I most certainly would have cleaned it to her satisfaction immediately.
I do not feed the deer, but explained to them that often my guests will buy corn and do so. There was a mountain lion sighted in the woods from our screened in porch by this woman's husband, but this has never happened in the 15 years I've owned this property. I called Parks and Wildlife the next morning and they came and investigated and assured me that mountain lions are rarely seen, that they have not had any recent sightings/reports, but also that lions have a very large range and most likely would not reappear.
This woman did receive two blisters on her fingers. When her husband told me as he packed their vehicle, I went over immediately and offered a burn ointment, but she assured me twice "It's nothing. I don't need any ointment." I had never had anyone complain about the oven handle before and ordered a new stove that day.
As for the bed - well, it's a Select Comfort queen-sized bed that can be adjusted to a sleeper's selection with a remote. Again, had they let me know, I'd have shown them how to use the remote if they didn't know how, or see it on the nightstand.
I apologize to HomeAway and all their customers for this review. I work hard at this business and it is my greatest desire to have my guests happy and wanting to return. So far, that's been my experience and I will do everything to see that it continues. In the interim, I will send this lady a refund and apology. Most sincerely, Donna, owner
