The Town of Alden: The cottage is situated a short walk from downtown Alden. Alden is a town that is full of the small town spirit that you have to experience to believe. Flower lined streets where everyone you pass waves and says hello. Alden has several restaurants, and Higgins General Store that has the best, biggest, ice cream cones you could ever eat. The town has cute boutique stores, a deli, family bar, tennis and basketball courts, and a park with a playground. Just at the end of the road is the public boat launch, library and community center. Four miles from the cottage is the Dockside restaurant and the sandbar that Torch Lake is famous for.
The Cottage: The cottage is situated on the best part of Torch Lake. The sunsets are just breath taking. Also because of the way the winds blow we have very few mosquitoes (YES!) The lake bottom is hard sand. We include a dock, rowboat with oars and life jackets. On the back porch and on the beach area we have ample beach chairs and eating areas.
The cottage is fully furnished and decorated in the northwoods theme. We supply all of the linens, pillows,towels, paper products and soap products. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, dishes and all pots and pans. We also include a washer and dryer. On the main level we have a bedroom with a full bed and a twin bunk over it. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and a sliding door which overlooks the lake. The family room is very large with leather furniture, wood burning fireplace and sweeping views of Torch Lake. The walkout basement has 2 nicely appointed bedrooms,a half bath, woodburning stove, television and a Foosball table.
Ski: Schuss Mountain and Shanty Creek -15 minutes. Boyne Mountain-35 minutes. Boyne Highlands-40 minutes. Crystal Mountain-60 minutes.
Golf: Within 30 miles we have many fabulous golf courses including the world famous Grand Traverse Resort with the Jack Nicklaus Bear course just 20 minutes away.
Other Activities: Boating.
