Gorgeous vacation rental in Anderson Valley

CGP San Anselmo, CA
Review Submitted: September 12, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We just returned from the most lovely long weekend at Sun and Cricket Cottage in the beautiful Anderson Valley. We have stayed all over the Valley in hotels, B&Bs and other vacation rentals, but nothing compares to this first-rate cottage. It is spotlessly clean and furnished in designer style, complete with a hot tub and gas BBQ on the deck, lush lawns and gardens (including a kitchen garden with vegetables and herbs), exceptionally comfortable beds, a gourmet kitchen, and fine towels and linens throughout. We (4 adults, a 4 year old and a baby) spent our days picnicking at Valley wineries, visiting the animals at the nearby Apple Farm, dining in Philo and Boonville, and simply enjoying time together at the cottage. Many thanks Jim, we hope to return soon!
Owner's Response: Carrie, I am so glad you and your family enjoyed the stay at the cottage. We really appreciate the positive feedback and look forward to having you visit again. By the way........ the photos you sent of everyone in the gardens were great!! I'll add them to our book. Thanks again!

Gorgeous Getaway

Rachel L. Emeryville, Ca
Review Submitted: July 1, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
This property is gorgeous. We had a lovely weekend getaway, went wine tasting and explored Boonville and Mendocino. This property is described as "cottage" however it is pretty large and sleeps 6 comfortably. The garden is incredible. If you've been to Napa and been disapointed try Anderson Valley - this was fantastic. Local food was also top notch.

The Perfect Get-Away!

Helen Mary Oakland, CA
Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My boyfriend & I stayed at the Sun & Cricket for a romantic getaway from our hectic business lives in the city. Even if we didn't have time to take advantage of all the wonderful ammenities outside of the cottage, the stay there alone would have been well worth the time! The grounds are charming and immuculately cared for...we had our breakfast on the deck over the koi pond & spent many evenings sipping wine from nearby Navarro Vineyards (the BEST gewurztraminer ever!). The rose gardens and garden statues certainly set the mood...we were lucky to have perfect weather as well! I really enjoyed eating fresh sweet plums plucked from the garden trees & we even had tomatoes from the vegetable garden with our dinner. The kitchen is a chef's delight with a professional stove that we, unfortunately, used only once. (Day trips to Boonville & Mendocino for meals took precedence!) We picked fresh blackberries on the road to Indian creek state park, hiked amid the giant redwoods in Hendy Woods, tasted some of California's best wines & made it back to Sun & Cricket in one piece on our bicycles! It really was a little heaven on earth & the best part was it was only a couple hours away from that proverbial rat race. Definitely a place to go to again & again! On a side note, the house is beautifully decorated, the beds are comfortable & the fireplace just perfect. The only drawback is we didn't have more time off! I would also recommend the nearby Albion Inn in Mendocino & request a corner table if you're looking for a romantic evening meal. But for really delicious food & great service, try the Boonsville Inn & soak up the local color. Great rental property all-around!

Amazingly beautiful country getaway

Imararefind Riverside, CA
Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
Thank you for such a wonderful place to stay! The home is so beautiful and spacious! The huge farm kitchen has all the nicest and newest appliances. We loved to grab a cup of coffee or a bowl of cereal and sit outside in the rose garden each morning as we welcomed the day. Everywhere we looked turned out to be a photo opportunity. Being an artist I spent many hours just pIntng different spots in and around the house. Close to Mendecino, booneville,Philo where you can get the feel and flavor of the small community. The rouged California coast and ocean is close by and worth the trip through the giant redwoods to see. Everywhere we went was beautiful. We went to glass beach one day to see what everyone was talking about . We picked wild blackberries growing right along the coast. We loved stopping on our way back to the house at several of the winerys for some taste testing and wine buying!Thank you for renting us this wonderful spot in the country with all the comforts of
home in the country.
