During the summer, you'll likely see deer, turkeys, various birds, frogs and toads of all kinds, turtles, dragonflies, fireflies and butterflies.
In the winter, you can bring your snowmobile here and take the trail right behind the cabins. There are TONS of trails throughout Juneau County, including Castle Rock Lake.
After living in several states, we settled in Wisconsin to be close to family and enjoy a quality of life that only the mid-west can provide (including the fabulous cheese). Our favorite thing about Little Pond Lodge, is that it allows us to combine our family and business. In fact, when you visit, you'll likely be greeted by our two toe-headed little boys and/or an old, spoiled dog.
Meredith Sornsin purchased this cabin in 2010
Our 2 bedroom cabin was perfect for my husband & our two Siberian huskies. Upon check in, Meredith greeted us as if we were old friends with both kindness & gratitude that we had arrived. The cabin was clean, decorated like an LL Bean catalogue, and well stocked with all the kitchen utensils, pots, pans...even a mini coffee grinder. The gas fireplace in the unit was a plus - no messy cleaning of a fire place & it keeps the cabin cozy and warm. One of our highlights was having a Bon fire in the yard (which has a fire pit), while watching a movie on our computer, surrounded by our dogs, the woods, & the sweet evening air. Additionally, we took advantage of the trail that's on the property to walk & explore the little forest with the Huskies, who were in absolute heaven. I've already recommended Little Pond Lodge to two of my colleagues & my husband & I look forward to our next visit.
We had such a nice time staying at Little Pond. The cabins are perfect. Very clean and everything you need. The kitchen was completely furnished with all the essentials. The grounds were kept very clean and we felt right at home. The covered porch was our favorite spot to sit, relax and listen to the birds. Meridith was a great host and if you needed anything she was always available. I love the fact that dogs are welcome. The ponds on the property make this a special place. I highly recommend the stay!
This was our second visit to the Little Pond Lodge. The first time we went we would have given it five stars but now the place is even better. Justin & Meredith put all their love into this property. I'd give it 10 stars if it was allowed. There are many reasons why this place is so special. I'll just name a few. It's dog friendly so it was great to bring my dogs for a little R & R. Justin & Meredith make you feel like you're long time friends from the moment you check in. Meredith has many great suggestions on things to do and see in the area. She's really great about keeping her events board updated by the office. The cabins are spotless, the kitchen has everything you need to cook a feast. The rooms have ceiling fans which I love. The porches are large and covered making it a perfect place to sit if it rains. We felt like it was magic watching the rain fall while sitting on our porch over looking one of the ponds. There is firewood on site and the fire pits for each cabin are private and roomy. The cabins have satellite TV. I love the hammocks each cabin has somewhere tucked into the trees. If you want to unplug and have some peace and serenity this is the place for you. We'll be returning as often as we can.
Just returned from Little Pond. This was our first trip there, and will likely not be our last! My wife and I and our dog Riley stayed for a long weekend, and really enjoyed it. The resort is quiet, and relaxing. As the photos on this site show, the cabins are log style, and set back in the trees. But inside they are fully stocked with most everything but towels and food. Clean as anyone could ever ask. Justin welcomed us, and while we did not meet Meredith, it is obvious that they keep this resort up.
Buckhorn Cafe is great food, 10 minutes away and lots of nature, (state parks, wildlife reserve, boating, fishing) to enjoy all around
If our dog could type, he could tell you what a great time he had, as well. Shared a beer with the coulple in the next cabin over on evening. Cannot recommend this place more highly, if you are looking for a quiet retreat, I would strongly suggest you call and make a reservation
What a fantastic way to welcome in the New Year - 'glamping' (glamorous camping) at Little Pond Lodge with my husband, sister & her honey! The four of us camp together spring through fall and thought, that this more glamorous form of camping (this was not camping - this was luxury!), would be perfect to ring in the new year & it was!!!
The two bedroom cabin provided us ample room and individual privacy when needed! We found the cabin cozy, clean and generously appointed for all of our needs. The only thing we brought along, was a card table with chairs to assure we would have the adequate place for several rounds of hearts & spades! The TV with Dish satellite provided us with a needed football fix on Jan. 1st. There were plenty of kitchen supplies to make our gourmet New Years Eve dinner. We loved holding happy hour around the outside fire ring a-blazed - mother nature even provided a few snow flakes to add to the ambiance! Being outside offered as much charm as being inside! The grounds are beautiful & although there were 3 other cabins on the campus, we felt like like we were in our own little corner of the world!
Justin, Meredith, Griffin & pups were hosts supreme! They were friendly helpful fun-loving people to have as our hosts!
FYI - we enjoyed some of our time at Buckhorn State Park. We got our 2012 Park Stickers as well as found a new favorite camp site. For added entertainment we took a jaunt over to Hustler, WI - to the Hooter Bowl & enjoyed 2 games of bowling - lots of laughs & the next day - lots of sore muscles..... but oh so very much fun & worth every sore muscle! The Buckhorn Cafe provided us with two satisfying meals - New Years Day breakfast was extra yummy!
We look forward to making this a New Years tradition and watching the Sornsin family grow! Have a blessed year!
Sherry, Tom, Debbie & Alan!
The cabin was fantastic with all the amentities you would need! Meredith and Justin were so kind and showed tremendous hospitality.(They are to be official Mommy and Daddy in about a month!). It was really special for us because they allow dogs (even our VERY large dog). Rocky thought it was Christmas morning every day! He absolutely loved the trails and all the ponds surrounding the property. So many close things to see and do--snowmobile trails, state parks; Castle Rock Lake with trails, swimming, and boating; Wisconsin Dells; Warren Cranberry Fesitival; antiques; or just hanging out on the front porch and playing some games or horseshoes. It was great and just what we all needed.
