Hi! I am a 'semi-retired' Human Resources Manager living in Portland, Oregon. I am from an Air Force family, so I have had incredible opportunities to travel and live in different parts of the U.S. and Asia. I have the 'wanderlust' and love to 'live the life' of the areas I travel to. Favorite places so far -- St. John, USVI, Italy and Paris. I have an incredibly fun & loving family. Raising 2 West Highland Terriers - keeps me on my toes! I love to garden, snow ski, travel and spend time with great friends - wine tasting, gourmet cooking, etc. New hobby - teaching myself to knit!
Pam Obenchain purchased this house in 1999
I built this chalet at Eagle Crest in Central Oregon 16 years ago, during a fight for my life with Breast Cancer--surgery, 6 months of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation ! I am now a 16+ survivor and enjoying life everyday!! Why I chose to buy the chalet in Central Oregon? Well, Eagle Crest (Redmond, Oregon) receives 300 days of sunshine a year. So, it is a great place to go (just a 2.5-3 hour drive from Portland) summer or winter when the rain and dreariness gets to me or looking for peace and tranquility. Eagle Crest Resort is so beautiful and the air smells so wonderful from the juniper trees!! While it is quiet and spacious, there is always something to do and a lot of activity going on over there.
The number one benefit I enjoy while staying at my chalet is how I feel when I walk through that front door -- 'Sans Souci' (means without a care or worry in French). We found the name in the book, 'The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood' - it was their summer hideout! I just leave all the stress, worries, issues behind! It is very quiet and I love sitting on the deck early in the morning with a cup of coffee listening to the birds chirping and basking in the sunshine! Or watching the deer come up to the deck in the winter and spring looking for a little food from the sage and scrub brush (they even make an appearance in the summer sometimes!). Also, the living room, kitchen area and loft is knotty wood pine and there is a river rock fireplace that makes you feel like you have walked into a mountain cabin!! I think it is unique to feel like you are in a mountain cabin but on the 6th Fairway of a fabulous golf course! Other benefits that are not necessarily unique are the options to do almost any type of activity - sports, nature, spa, etc. - anything that you might be interested in within a 45 minute radius! It is such a great place to gather with friends and family.. I would love for you to enjoy it too!!
Our family spent 12 lovely days at this Chalet. This was our 4th year using this lovely home. It is so welcoming and well equipped with cooking utensils, good quality pots and pans and dishes. We like to cook, so it was perfect for us.
We came for a baseball tournament, this house was close to the tournament site, the boys loved the pools and the dads loved the golf course. This house had everything we needed to cook our meals. The only down side there was no ESPN for my husband. :)
This is our second time staying at this home and we will come back again. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, cozy fireplace, big barbecue, and a hot tub. Who could ask for more.
We had a wonderful time during our stay. The home was so comfortable and offered all the comforts of home. We woke up each morning greeted by a family of deer just off the deck. We love Central Oregon and will definitely be back to Eagle Crest and this wonderful chalet. This was everything our family needed to end the summer. Thank you!
This was a great house in Eagle Crest. Very clean, comfortable and private. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook and barbeque meals. Home was much larger than it looks in the photos and there was plenty of room for the family. The location is centrally located and we spent one day at Lake Billy Chinook (45 minute drive) and one day in downtown Bend (about 20 minutes away) as well as lots of time at the Eagle Crest pool! We will come back!
This was a very comfortable stay while attending a family wedding. Although it was well stocked with all the needs, we found the house to be rather dusty. I am sure it is hard to keep up with dust living in Eastern Or. I would have preferred a King size bed in Master. We will be sure to rent this place again.
