Overview

East End Condo Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 5.

Enjoy our beautifully renovated, top floor, 1,450 sq. ft. two bedroom, three full bath, non-smoking condominium at the Wyndham Elysian Beach Resort overlooking beautiful Cowpet Bay (also see our three bedroom, VRBO #76523 or HomeAway #248170, at the same resort). Just up 8 steps to this quiet top floor condo which has all the features that you would want in a vacation condo as we stay there several weeks per year. The living area has a sectional sofa, a 42-inch TV, a DVD/CD player/stereo with iPod player and wireless internet service. It has a covered balcony with table, chairs, chaise lounge and Weber electric BBQ grill. The dining area has a table that seats six. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances (refrigertor, oven/cooktop, dishwasher, microwave), granite countertop, and an eating bar with four chairs.

There is one bedroom on the main floor with a king bed. The second bedroom is in a loft setting with a king bed and a twin bed in an adjoining alcove. Also available is a Pak-N-Play. The bedrooms have vaulted ceilings, individual quiet split air conditioning units, ceiling fans, 32' TV’s with DVD players, dressers and closets. Each bedroom has a private bath with sink (two sinks in master) and combination tub/shower. Both have private balconies with views of Cowpet Bay. The loft balcony is over-sized (14’x20’) and is perfect for enjoying the views, socializing, sunbathing and star gazing.

It only takes 2 to 3 minutes to walk to the beautiful palm tree lined beach where there are complimentary beach and lounge chairs. Here you can bask in the sun or lay in the shade of a palm or seagrape tree. We even have a complimentary beach towel service. The beach has a large protected swimming area and an area where you can snorkel. Next to the beach is a large beautifully landscaped pool with hot tub. There is also a beach bar and two great restaurants, Caribbean Fish Market, serving lunch and dinner and Sangria's serving breakfast and sandwiches and pizza for lunch and dinner. On site we have a tennis court, exercise room (fee), health/beauty/massage spa (fee) and water-sport rentals (fee). The water-sport hut can arrange boating excursions for you.

In the nearby town of Red Hook, you can take a ferry to St. John and the British Virgin Islands (passport required). The town has a dozen restaurants, a grocery store, gift and specialty shops, and a large marina. All of this is within a mile and a half of our condominium.

About Rick & Susan Taylor

Susan and Rick Taylor live in Wilmington DE, where they were born and raised. We also lived in Tulsa OK for 15 years. We have three married daughters and each of them gave us a grandchild in 2008, one in 2010, two more in July 2011 and the last one in January 2014.

Rick & Susan Taylor purchased this condo in 2007

Why Rick & Susan Taylor chose East End

We spent our 30th wedding anniversary with our family in St. Thomas and fell in love with the island. After visiting many other islands, we returned a year later looking for real estate. We stayed at the Elysian and realized the location on island, beach, facilities, and condos couldn't be beat. The rest is history.

What makes this condo unique

The property is very well maintain. On site there are two great restaurants, a beautiful uncrowded palm tree lined beach, a large swimming pool with hot tub and pool bar, a tennis court, an exercise facility (fee), a beauty/health/massage spa (fee), and a sports equipment rental hut.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a glorious place! The condo is wonderful and so nicely decorated and equipped. Our family enjoyed all of the island! Snorkeling was wonderful on St Thomas and St John. We hope to return again. Thanks so much! A honeymoon with the children.

Great condo and resort!

  • 5 of 5

The condo itself has all the amenities of home. Grocery stores are just a short car trip away. The Food Center is a larger grocery store with tons of options. Moe's Fresh Market has more specialized options. We liked the Food Center because it was one place to shop and get everything (libations included). Parking is also easier at the Food Center.

The condo has a ton of space for families including a great loft with a incredible balcony. We sat out there at night and listened to music. The beach is a private beach with plenty of shade and lounge chairs. You can watch sailing yachts take off and from the bay and the water is clear. The beach bar, Sangrias, has good food and drinks and the wait staff are very friendly.

St. Thomas has a ton of options, including ferrying your car over to St. Johns for a day. We visited Magen's Beach, Coki Beach, Coral World and Mountain Top on St. Thomas, then took a trip over to St. Johns and went to Trunk Bay, a beautiful beach. I would suggest getting a four-wheel drive vehicle if you can.

Food options are everywhere. We ate at Havana Blue, Pesce, Virgilios and Old Stone Farmhouse while we were there...as well as the two restaurants at the Elysian. All of the meals were wonderful, though the first four were fairly expensive.

Get a good, detailed map or plan your excursions carefully. The roads don't always follow (my) logic and signs are not always there to point you in the right direction. We turned around a number of times trying to get to our destination and that is not always an easy task on mountain roads. AT&T GPS does work on the island which was very helpful. Streets often change names and sometimes seem to go straight when the road you need turns to the left or right. Plan carefully.

If you want to shop at the duty-free shops, you really need to go on a day when ships are in port. Many of the stores close when the ships are gone.

The only downsides of the trip, and this is more of an alert for those of you planning on traveling to any of the U.S. virgin islands, were the nasty noseeums. They left me alone for the most part, but they attacked my wife. She brought 50 or 60 bites home and they seem to be continuing. Do not lay directly on the sand and do not take towels or other sand-laden articles back into the condo with you.

You have options here to just rest or be adventurous. We did a little of both and really enjoyed it!

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We rented the 2-bedroom for two weeks. Beautiful ocean views from all three balconies. Rick & Susan equip this condo as if it were their home. Everything one wants or needs is already there. Its very clean with upscale appliances. Grocery stores and restaurants are very close-by. Nice big pool right out back. The palm tree covered beach is beautiful; soft white sand, clean and orderly, clear and gentle water, gentle slope, lots of beach chairs and lounges, beach bar, beach bistro, activity booking hut, paddle boat and kayak rental, and importantly, its family friendly - not a spring break type of beach. If you rent a car, the parking is plentiful. The Ritz Carlton is next door. Lots of beautiful beaches to visit to the north; all public. Rick and Susan go above and beyond when recommending places to visit, where to eat, and things to do. Weather was beautiful, there was always a nice gentle breeze. All in all, I give the resort an A+, I give the condo an A+, I give the location an A+, I give the island an A+, and I give the landlords an A+++. Thank you Rick and Susan!!!

Perfect Spot!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back yesterday spending a week at Rick and Susans condo. It was the perfect spot. My wife and 3 children (23, 21 and 17) had plenty of room to spread out. The condo was exactly as described. Quick walk to beach, or one of the bars for a drink. The snorkeling on the left side of Cowpet Bay was pretty good as well. As we drove around the island exploring Red Hook, Coki Beach, Magens Bay, ZipLine Extreme, this spot was in a nice location for heading to the north side, or back to Charolotte Amalie or catching a ferry to St. Johns. If you go to St. Johns, look to catch Honeymoon Beach. About a 20 minute hike up Lind Point Trail once off the ferry. Great beach, great snorkeling (colorful fish, sting ray, sea turtle) and very small crowd.

We had a wonderful time. Thanks to Rick and Susan for all your help setting this up for us.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in St. Thomas and first time staying in one of Rick and Susan's condos. The condo had everything that we could have needed and was a perfect fit for our family of five which included kids ages 9 to 14 months. The walk to the beach and pool was easy, the kitchen had everything we needed to make a nice meal, and the onsite restaurants were perfect for our needs. The water and beach were perfect for us and the kids loved seeing some of the different fish. We even saw a sting ray! The pool was a hit and if you have children, make sure you go swimming at night when the pool is lit up with different colored lights!

Unfortunately, some of us were hit with a stomach bug while we were there. I can attest that the doctor's office in Red Hook, recommended by Rick and Susan, is a WONDERFUL office and if you are at all nervous about being away from medical care in the States, don't be. Rick was also kind enough to check in on us and have extra supplies sent over to us with his cleaning crew so that we did not have to leave to goto the store while we were sick.

Don't hesitate to rent this condo. It has everything that you could need and is very comfortable. Rick and Susan are also very knowledgeable about the island and can answer most any question that you have. So, go and enjoy! The weather report said rain every day we were there, but we always had beautiful weather!

We just keep coming back!!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 4th time staying in one of Rick & Susan's condos - and we can't say enough good things. This past visit we stayed in the smaller unit and as usual, everything was perfect...spotless, exremely well equipped, comfortable & great location. The beach at the Elysian is so very relaxing and the condo's location is perfect to jump on a ferry at Red Hook for some island hopping. I would highly recommend either of their condos to everyone....don't hesitate. Rick & Susan are great owners and very easy to work with. All I can say is "ENJOY!" Thanks again Rick & Susan....we will be back again!

Incredible Experience

  • 5 of 5

This unit was beautifully decorated, clean and had incredible views. My parents, brother and I visited and had a very memorable visit. The resort has a private beach, beautiful pool area and two on site restaurants that offer delicious entrées with a gorgeous view. David at the pool bar was very friendly, helped make arrangements for a private chartered boat for my family and treated us with island favorites! Thanks Susan and Rick! We will definitely return!
