Cabin on Hopkins Lake between Ludington and Pentwater

Great time at the lake! The house was roomy, bright, clean and filled with everything you need, including dishes, charcoal briquettes as well as gas in the gas grill, condiments in the fridge, and laundry detergent for the washer! We loved the Fooze-ball combo table, the pool table, and the exercise equipment in the basement. We had fun in the row boat, and our dog loved chasing sticks in the water. A great view of the lake from all 3 decks. Great star-gazing too! It's really a great deal with all the little comforts and extras. We also had a great time exploring Ludington and Pentwater.

My family and I had a wonderful week at the cabin. We were first-time renters and anxious that all would go well, so many horror stories out there. Happy to report that the descriptions and photos provided for Canfield Cabin are very accurate. Everything was clean and included many extras that really allowed us to sit back and enjoy our time there. For example there were lots of towels, condiments in the refrigerator, dish and laundry soaps, lots of dishes/pans, etc. Also the mud room was so handy to be able to keep all our golf equipment and beach stuff in, keeping the inside areas clean. Wish I had one at home!
We spent many days at nearby beaches, fishing on the lake with the boats provided, golfing, and especially relaxing on the deck with its wonderful view and nice breezes. Only one rainy day but we just headed downstairs for a couple of pool games and watched a DVD. Mostly took advantage of the kitchen but did love the PMSteamers restaurant in town.
My favorite part about the property was the layout. We have a 3 year old and also had a 4 year old and 9 month old visit us. The deck spaces are gated in various areas allowing the kids to run virtually free while providing some limitations. The downstairs area gave them lots of inside room to spread out their toys away from the grown-ups. And there is a half door that can be closed on the main floor to the stairs leading down that allowed us to let the baby crawl around freely/safely. A great setup for families with children!

Spectacular views of the lake! There's no better way to start the day than looking out the many windows overlooking the lake. We enjoyed our perfect vacation at the Canfield's; fishing, boating, kayaking, grilling, hanging out on the decks. My son caught a 25" pike and 18" large mouth bass. Even on the rainy days, we were completely entertained with the games in the house (pool, foosball, table tennis, watching tv.) I think the kids had the most fun just running up and down the stairs! Within minutes of Ludington State Park sand dunes and miles of beach along Lake Michigan.
We will definately be back and recommend to our friends and family.
