Get away within 15 minutes to our quiet, green neighborhood. Our main level includes 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a large sunny living room, an elegant dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen. Our walk-out basement is ideal for children or friends with 2 bedrooms, a full bath, a large living, a laundry room and a screened porch. Choose from dozens of books and read on the porch, the deck or by one of our 2 fireplaces. Log onto our computer or plug in your laptop into our wireless network and surf the net at super-fast speed. Flip through hundreds of channels on Satellite TV. For cooking, help yourself to our spices and get what you need from 2 major supermarkets that are 5 minutes away. To discover the area, drive to Metro (5 min) or to DC (15 min). Shop at Tysons Corner (15 min), or walk the trails in the Great Falls National Park (15 min).

Our house is very close to downtown McLean, an upscale, quiet, green neighborhood just outside Washington, DC. Drive 5 minutes to West Falls Church Metro station and take a short ride to visit the Smithsonian museums, the White House, the Capitol, the Library of Congress, the Pentagon, Old town Alexandria or the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Shop to your heart's content at Tysons Corner, the Galleria or Leesburg Outlet mall. Eat out and go to the movies at Clarendon, Ballston. Canoe or bike on the C&O canal and the endless miles of bike trails that take you to DC . Take hikes at Great Falls National Park, Red River bend or take a day trip in the Blue Ridge mountains.

We were very lucky to be able to stay in this serene retreat-like home, close to Washington yet away from the hustle and bustle of the traffic. The balcony and back yard garden had us change our plans and decide to stay at home the last couple of days to catch up on our family dreams and play together with the teenage kids! They even forbade us from watching TV asking for more 'quality family time!' The place is charming, sparkling clean, and wired for fast Internet. We could cook or barbeque, chill or catch up with work by email, or take a fast drive to DC and enjoy the city. We could hang out around the dining table, on the marvelous back porch, or get a private moment in any of the many quiet rooms. I highly recommend it.

Sereene comfort close to city beat + nature escape

It was better than we expected it, We stayed with husband and 3 year old son for 8 days and friends joined in. We had all the comfort of a large home with personal touch. We were able to go to numerous place in the day time and come back to the serenity of the place. We could experience the city beat of Washington's museums, George town's great streets and water front of Alexandria without much hassle (of course some parts are about half an hour ride). Great Falls Park was a great experience for nature escape. Staying home was also fun. Our son loved to play in the safe garden. The large deck surrounded with trees lent itself to a couple of morning yoga sessions! Recommend it highly.

Excellent for quiet retreat near the capital

This was the perfect house and setting for our family reunion. The house had a real home effect and not just a touristic standard vacation place. Different sitting areas and play areas, for the multi-generation bunch that we were. The terrace was a favorite amongst all. The location was also good as it was close to the major highways for our varied touristic destinations. It was also close to amenities like groceries, shopping centers and Tyson's mall. Some of us had work to do and the computer and internet access as well as close business centers made that possible. We highly recommend this place, and we will use it again in the future.
