Heaven on Earth...or as close as you can get:)

Fall Leaf Lover Orlando, FL
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
When we walked in the door I said "Oh My God", and meant literally that. The views from this mountain home are unbelievable and the fact that Bob and Melissa choose to share it with others is a true blessing. I think I saw the listing within the first week it was online and it far surpassed anything else I had seen - almost too good to be true...but it was everything it promised to be and more.

The home is immaculate, stylish and warm with the best views I have ever seen anywhere. Make sure to leave some time in your schedule to just relax and enjoy the beauty and ambiance of just being there. We had five glorious days of peak leaf color but still had a hard time pulling ourselves away from the cabin to go explore. In fact, two of our favorite days were rainy days where we just lit the fire in the morning and spent the day reading, listening to music, peacefully cocooned away from the world's problems in our cabin in the clouds.

The amenities provided by our hosts were impeccable: a great supply of dry firewood, kindling, plenty of towels, paper products, and even hot chocolate and popcorn! Easy access to interstates made getting around easy...and there is so much to do nearby. We've tried for years to see bears in the wild and this year we saw three on the Smokey Mountain Pkwy! The Blueridge Parkway is only a few miles away and its less than 30 minutes to get into Ashville if desired. We highly recommend dinner at the Cataloochee Ranch and going to see the Elk in Cataloochee Valley.

Finally, I can't say enough about how warm and caring Melissa and Bob were. We really enjoyed getting to know them and it is very evident that they really care about their special home and their guests experience of it. My only regret was having to leave and that I should have booked 2010 sooner! Don't wait on this one, the dates are going like hot cakes on a chilly mountain morning.

Thank you Bob and Melissa and may you be blessed as your efforts on your home are blessing others.

Warm regards,

Karen and Pam

breathtaking!

Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Everything in the photos is EXACTLY what you'll find when you get here. Be aware, however, that the roads leading into the property are quite rigorous with several significant switchbacks. If you are pulling a trailer with bikes give yourself plenty of time and arrive before dark. Well heated with pro-green appliances, plenty of fresh and dry firewood, and the view is absolutely breath-taking! Highly recommend this property as a base to ride the eastern Smokies or Maggie Valley.

Simply Amazing

Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My husband, myself and our 14 month old stayed at Hickory Ridge Lodge in October 2009. All we can say is this place is amazing, everything was so well put together and we had every comfort of home and then some. Although we didn't get to see the true beauty of the view what we did see was breathtaking. We are already making plans to stay longer this summer. We couldn't get enough, the decor was so beautiful and comfortable. This cabin is close to everything and it is a perfect family getaway or perfect romantic getaway for couples.

Melissa and Bob were amazing hosts. We couldn't have asked for better people to work with. It's hard for us to believe that anyone would want to rent out this spectacular cabin!

Do no hesitate to rent this cabin, you will be glad you did.

Thanks Melissa and Bob for allowing us to spend time in your beautiful cabin! We will be back this summer!
