A hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here 10/31/14 to 1/3/14 and LOVED this place! We had my husbands 50th surprise birthday party weekend here. Very spacious and gorgeous cabin with an uneblieveable view of the river right off the balcony. I loved being away from the concrete jungle for the whole weekend, and it is just far enough away from South shore that you don't feel so tempted to go gamble all the time! Can't wait to come back. Thanks for making this a beautiful home away from home!

We loved this cabin!

  • 5 of 5
We loved this cabin! Three generations, aged 19-74, booked 4 nights and wished we had time to stay longer. We fished in the river but also brought our fishing boat to take to the local lakes. The deck at the back of the house was great for reading and relaxing while the "kids" fished in the river below. The master bedroom upstairs had a balcony and chairs too. Mom and I both loved the decor and I'm about to email Lori to see who did the decorating. The cabin had everything we needed from dishware, utensils, and cookware to towels, extra pillows, and sleeping bags if we had needed them. There was wood if we had needed it. At night we did jigsaw puzzles and watched DVDs that we had brought but each room also had DirecTV. The downside for us is we are internet junkies and had to go maybe 6 miles down the road to get cell coverage. Some will not care about lack of internet/cell coverage and others will find it a plus. Either way, it wasn't far to go and closer than what we are used to where we normally camp in the middle of the Warner Mountains near Alturas. Sorenson's is across the street although we didn't go there. We did buy some groceries in Markleeville about 8 miles away but did our major shopping in the South Shore 20-35 minutes depending on whether you are going to the Y or closer to the casinos. If you go to the Red Hut Cafe, I love the Biscuits & Gravy, the pancakes, and the hash browns. We had lunch at Fox & Hound and that was really good too. Looking forward to staying here again.

Markleville Cabin

A wonderful place. Very comfortable, clean and spacious. Our group of three couples has rented this cabin twice in the past couple of years. We love the area and enjoy the nearby countryside for hiking and the beautiful scenery. The cabin is so nice to come back to after being out all day.

Great place to celebrate and relax!

  • 5 of 5
Stayed here after getting married in Tahoe. The cabin is wonderfull, had everything we needed to make the stay comfortable. Love the sound of the river drowning out the rest of the world and the kids enjoyed the swimming area (as well as my wife who took a dive in her wedding dress after the wedding). Hope to make it back in a few years to celebrate our anniverssary.

Refreshing Carson River

  • 4 of 5
The "log cabin" was really a "log home"...nicely appointed and fully equipped. You must be aware this property has a 7,000 ft elevation...very high! It is amazing that Lake Tahoe with all it's nightlife is less than a half hour away! The Carson River was very refreshing and we took advantage of it on a daily basis. Nice that there was a gas/propane bar-b-que~ because we grilled almost every evening. Keep everything inside...there are bears here! We also were there during the "Olympics"...which we got to enjoy from one of 4 televisions at any time!
