Great front range location. Close to all Pikes Peak area attractions. Focus on the Family, Garden of the Gods, The Air Force Academy, The Cog Railroad, Pikes Peak, ect. Only 1 mile to the interstate, less than a mile to downtown Monument,15 minutes to downtown Colorado Springs, 20 minutes to the outlets at Castle Rock, and 40 minutes to Denver Tech Center. The Air Force Academy is a short 5 miles away. The home boast 3 oversize rooms in separate areas of the home. Each with its own dedicated bathroom. Perfect for families who want a little privacy.
On one side of the home is the master bedroom with a king sized bed and a large walk in closet and a 5 piece master bath. On the other side of the home is another oversize room with a California king bed, and a futon, two closets and a dedicated bath. There is a loft in the middle of the upstairs which has a double bed and many children's toys and books. The basement is finished and has a queen bed, sofa bed, TV, dart board, and full bath.......THE POOL WILL NOT BE OPENED FOR THE 2014 SEASON. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVIENENCE.
We stayed at this place last year and again this year. Last year we walked in and found a shell casing on the foyer floor - have no idea what that was about, but was worrisome. Owners claim this is a 3 bedroom home, however, the 2nd and 3rd bedroom are joined (the wall between the 2 rooms is missing). So technically, it's only a 2 bedroom. There is a bed on the lower level, but the basement is not carpeted and there were huge cockroaches down there. Last year all of the screens were torn up and we had a tremendous problem with flies. There is also no A/C and when we got there last year, the house had not been opened and it was a sweat box. It was also not cleaned well. The exterior is unkempt and the next door neighbor's have old junkers, boat and an unkempt yard as well. One of the biggest problems was that the internet and cable connection had not been paid and it took several days to get it on.
I'm really open minded and mentioned all of these problems to the owner last year and said we would rent it again if the screens were fixed, the house was clean, the internet and cable were working, and the house was opened before we got there to cool it off. So here we are the second time around. The screens were repaired, so no problem with flies. We had fewer people stay with us this year, but still did not use the basement 'bedroom' because of the roaches last year, and apparently somebody else must have complained about the heat, since there was a window unit A/C in the combined bedroom 2/3. The house was still not clean (to my standards - tables were sticky, floors had crumbs). Although the TV connection was on this year, we didn't have internet connection the entire length of our stay - the owner stated she could not get Comcast to get out to the house. I give this house one star for last year and 2 stars this year because some things were improved.
The location of this home is exactly what we needed! Close to family that we were visiting in Monument and close to Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, etc. Unfortunately the property could REALLY use some TLC--missing window screens, not cleaned well, mattresses were a bit uncomfortable. The backyard was unkempt. The home served it's purpose as a convenient place to stay but definitely needs some attention to make it a truly "great place to stay". The layout of the home is great too, again, just in need of some serious TLC.
We very much enjoyed our stay in this home. It is very nicely furnished and decorated, and has a nice open floor plan on the main floor. Kitchen was well equipped. Our only surprise was that there was no air conditioning. Perhaps we were surprised because all of us who vacation there live on the east coast where air conditioning is very common. Nonetheless, with evening temps dropping nicely and breezes blowing, it ended up being comfortable.
When we arrived, we were excited by the overall look of the neighborhood, and structure of the house. But very shortly afterwards we opened refrigerator to put our food in, and we found it dirty and full of someone else's food. As tired as we were by our long trip, we had to clean it and move other food aside. Pantry was also full of someone else's food. We also found an alcoholic drink on top of refrigerator. That set the tone for other things we found along the way. Since the house was so hot inside, we opened windows, but noticed that we couldn't open some windows and doors for fresh air, because they were missing screens. The garage was also dark. When we went in there to get things from the car, we noticed that bulbs didn't work. The children were excited to use the pool. And when they jumped in, they couldn't wait to get out. The water was murky, couldn't see through it, bottom of pool was slimy. I called the pool guy that takes care of that particular pool. He never called me back. So our whole time there, my kids did not enjoy the pool. I even called the homeowner, because she said that we could call for anything. She also never returned my call. The oven in the kitchen was dirty too. So we didn't use it either. The clother washer had a water leak too. We do not recommend this house. It's too bad , because the house has good potential , it just need more tender loving care.
Great 3 bedroom home with a loft and a bonus room, Sleeps 10 comfortably. Each bedroom has its own dedicated bath in seperate areas of the home, making the sleeping arragemants somewhat private. The oversized kitchen has plenty of space with a seperate dining room and sunken living room plus an empty room for whatever your needs may be.
