The home is organized around three living areas connected through a stunning oak spiral staircase. At the top is a spacious master bedroom suite with a king-size bed and beautiful master bath with Jacuzzi tub and stand alone shower, and walk in closet. A separate seating area and freestanding fireplace complete this self-contained living area. Off the suite is the “Wheelhouse”, a private deck offering stunning views of the ocean. The second level of the home includes a kitchen, dining area, office and living room with a beautiful two-story rock fireplace as well as a second bedroom with a queen size bed and second bath. This level of the home includes another spacious deck overlooking the ocean, as well as a deck on the back of the house which faces a quiet park-like setting with many trees and open space.

On the entry level of the home is another bedroom suite complete with a queen-size bed, private bath and sitting area complete with a separate entertainment system. The Captain’s Cottage offers all the amenities you would expect in a 5-star hotel yet is a world away from a bustling hotel atmosphere. The home offers wireless high-speed Internet, 4 TVs with cable, DVD player, Bose IPod base, luxurious linens and towels, gas bar-b-que, extraordinary furnishings and beautiful wood floors. Our Family of 5 stayed in the Captains Cottage for two weeks in July 2009. The transaction and booking went flawlessly and everything was described 100% accurate. Upon our late arrival we found the house fully stocked with enough food and goodies to allow for a casual first day before visiting the market. The owners even supplied a welcome basket and fresh cut flowers along with fresh home baked goods upon our arrival. The house is newly renovated, furnished, extremely clean and well laid out with lots of privacy consisting of a bed room and private bath on every level. They have lovely gardens and a stunning lemon tree right off the deck loaded with fresh lemons. This house is unbelievable with every possible amenity and all the comforts of home. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house location was both private and quiet. We found our hosts Francesca and John to be extremely helpful and an absolute pleasure. They were available at all times and a wealth of information regarding must see places to visit. We have rented several properties but this property was the best by far. We would definitely return and rent this home again.

Fabulous stay, Top-notch vacation rental!

What a fantastic home! The description in the listing was totally accurate and I would say exceeded our expectations! Upon arrival we were pampered with fresh brownies and other goodies to enjoy during our stay. The view of the ocean from the decks is beautiful. Our group consisted of 6 adults and there was more than enough room to gather, sleep comfortably and enjoy good food, wine and games around the dining table and patio table. Only minutes away from Santa Barbara without having to pay S.B. lodging tax.

We will definitely be back. This time I went with friends, next time I am bringing the family!

The communication with the owners was excellent in arranging details and I received my security deposit within 3 days of the trip's end. Very impressed...no amenity lacking.

The Best Escape in Summerland

We had a great stay in the Captains Cottage in Summerland. The Captains Cottage had amazing indoor and outdoor living areas in order to experience CA in style. The view of the water from almost every window was beautiful. The Captains Cottage is a perfect mix of comfort and style. We'll come back again and again!
