Idyllic house in Calistoga

Our family just came back from spending a full 11 days at this house that Tom built in Calistoga. Flat out, it was wonderful in many ways. The reality exceeded expectations and the pictures. It is always reassuring to meet not only the owner but the builder, who was a gentleman. The design and layout of the house works great with bedrooms at either of two wings of the house. Our only complaint was because the house is so big, it felt like it took so long to walk from one end to the other. But, we got used to it. As we also got used to to using the salt water pool every day. Especially, our 4 and 7 year old, who learned to do front crawl for a whole length of this pool, a real milestone for us and arguably, a highlight of our vacation. Although we're familiar with the Bay area, this was the first time that we stayed in Napa. So, to those also less familar with Napa, we found this location also ideal. It is warm and sunny here, unlike SF. We kinda knew that, but we didn't really appreciate fully until having spent the 11 days here. It's about 1.5-2h drive from SF or Berkeley, which we did in a couple of daytrips. Otherwise, we drove 5mins into Calistoga for basic things. We spent more time in St. Helena, Yountville, and Napa, 15, 30 and 40 mins away from this house, respectively. All in all, a great, relaxing holiday, made possible by staying in a great house in a great locale.
