Guestbook comments from the owner
We have stayed here twice while visiting our son, daughter-in-law and new baby boy who live in a small apartment four blocks from here. The space, privacy and complete (and well-functioning) equipment make this an ideal do-it-yourself bed and breakfast place. We appreciate the ease of making arrangements and the artwork too!

OUR FIRST VRBO

  • 4 of 5
Our son lives in Oakland, 2 blocks from this vrbo. Not having a car was a plus. The neighborhood was great. Walking distance from restaurants, parks, grocery stores. The vrbo is old, but comfortable. Couch and chairs for sitting need to be updated. Nice outdoor space with deck and table/chairs for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. We would definitely be back to visit our son.

GOOD DEAL FOR THE PRICE

  • 4 of 5
Located in the heart of Oakland, this property has a lot of pluses, especially since it is so reasonably priced. The apartment is entirely adequate: renters will not want for any of the essentials, and will find Maya very receptive to requests. The only noteworthy difficulty is parking. As at least one other renter has remarked, there isn't a whole lot of it on the street: the neighborhood is densely populated so that there are far more cars than spaces. We therefore usually had no alternative but to park in the driveway, and while Maya was understanding, it still made for difficulties insofar as the driveway was narrow and required frequent rotation of vehicles. But this is a relatively minor problem when contrasted with the central location and pleasant neighborhood. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! We agree, the parking here is not great, but we do our best to accommodate by sharing the driveway. It does take some logistics, since it appears the driveway was made for a horse and buggy, but we are happy to make it work!

WONDERFUL STAY IN ADAMS POINT

  • 5 of 5
My husband & I booked the rental for 2 weeks, for my parents who came all the way from Indonesia to get together with us and to get some Rest&Relax.
The booking process was a breeze, the rental was clean and pleasant, the bed & bedding was comfortable (so I was told) and the location could not have been better! It's on a safe neighborhood, only 3 blocks away from where we (husband & I) live, close to the lake - so my parents could have a nice walk in the mornings, and less than a mile away from grocery stores - so my parents were able to get any forgotten items & went grocery shopping easily.
The fact that the kitchen is equipped with mini refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, pots & pans, chopping board, knife, can opener, plates, bowls, etc kitchen utensils, and a full size gas stove & oven made it so much easier for my parents to cook their own meals, according to their diet & liking.
The rental owner are a nice couple who were always attend whenever needed, and they were very helpful by letting my parents use their washer & dryer in the basement. Their kids are joyful and helped ease my parents' homesickness of their grand kids back in Indonesia :)
Needless to say, my parents enjoy their 2 weeks stay at the rental and my husband & I couldn't be happier! Thank you very much!

ENJOYABLE STAY

We appreciated the location - being able to walk to places in the Lake Merritt area and also to the BART station. We took the BART to San Francisco and had a wonderful day. Thanks for providing a nice kitchen (also the coffee & tea).

THANKS

  • 5 of 5
This was a welcoming and hospitable little gem, with gracious hosts to boot. Thanks to Maya and Matt for making the stay very comfortable, and for accommodating our needs travelling with a 2-1/2 year old (allowing us to do laundry, furnishing a pak-n-play). Definitely would stay here again, great location too.

GREAT LOCATION AND VERY WELCOMING OWNERS

  • 4 of 5
I loved this location and the owners were quick to respond and provided just the right amount of attention (not too much or too little). I would have given this a five star except the unit could do with a little bit of repair. Cleanliness was not a problem, but the unit is a bit older and it could use a good once over with paint a good deep clean. The unit is in their house but you have a private entrance and it is pretty quiet and away from the street. Sleeping was no problem. Parking on the street was quite easy and never had to park more than a block away (and frequently closer than that). The unit has a large bedroom/living area, a separate bathroom, a dining/entrance way, and a mini kitchen. The kitchen, bathroom, and linens were fully stocked and there is a whole foods nearby which was great.I would definitely stay there again and I would recommend others to this location as well. And the price was perfect!

Owner's Response: Hi Alan, it was a pleasure to have you here. Thank you for the feedback, a paint job is certainly on our wish list! The house is going on 100 years old, so sometimes we have to pick our battles. Hopefully we'll have it done the next time you are in town : )
