Newly renovated home offering one block walk to the beach, comfortable indoor and outdoor living spaces and complete privacy.
Wide ocean views and restful Canyon ambiance create the perfect location to enjoy the LA area. Located one block from wide sandy beaches - the sounds of the surf in the evening will lull you to sleep. And the ocean views from nearly every room provide relaxing vistas and fabulous sunsets each evening.
The house has a gated entry, large covered lanai, private patio outside each bedroom and deck overlooking the ocean. Open living room with cathedral ceiling and huge widows remind you of the outstanding beauty of this unique location throughout the day. Fully equipped cook's kitchen with top of the line appliances.
The home is perfect for visiting the area for work or pleasure. Walking distance to downtown Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades. Our goal is to make our guests as comfortable as in a 5-star ‘boutique’ hotel.
The house has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, and a smaller bedroom that we have outfitted as an office but also contains a comfortable day bed that can accommodate one person. There are two bathrooms; the master bath has both a large walk-in shower and a separate deep soaking tub. The master bath also has radiant floor heating that keeps the limestone warm in the evening. The second bathroom has a terrazzo tile shower. Each room has a well-organized closet with ample space. The bedrooms also have doors leading to the backyard patio with comfortable furniture for relaxing.
The house has a central sound system with speakers located in various rooms so that music from your i-Pod, Pandora or CD can be listened to throughout the house. There is a large flat-screen TV in the living room. The kitchen, dining area and living rooms all have a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Canyon. The kitchen has top of the line appliances and has the necessary cooking equipment for meal preparation. There also is a flat-screen TV in the kitchen/dining area. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the house.
The house was completely renovated in 2009 and offers the highest standard of accommodation. It is bright throughout the day. The Pacific Ocean can be seen from many rooms in the house and the sound of the waves will be heard in the evening.
Outside we have a large covered lanai for relaxing and dining outdoors in the endless California summer. The house is in a secluded location perched above the street so it is very private. The beach is a short one-block walk down either Entrada Drive or Ocean Way where you will find the wide sandy beach, volleyball nets, and the famous bicycle path on the beach.
Across the Canyon directly opposite from the house is the iconic Eames House designed and previously lived in by the famous architect/designers Charles and Ray Eames. The living room windows of the house frame a perfect view of one of the Eames Houses perched on the rim of Santa Monica Canyon.

The house was perfect and the boys actually refer to it as "their California home". It was more than we expected and loved every minute of our stay. Thanks again for your great hospitality!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-week stay at this lovely home. The owners could not have been kinder or more helpful. The house is well decorated, with every convenience, and in impeccable condition. The location is excellent, with the beach just a couple of blocks away and nice restaurants in easy walking distance. We would love to return.
My wife,15 month old son and I stayed @ this property for 3 weeks in January of 2014. The house is impeccably well-kept. It is convenient to Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and a short drive to Malibu. The owners make it very resident-friendly and the property has the perfect amount of privacy. Restaurants a short walk away have a great deal of variety and suit whichever mood you may be in. The kitchen is fully equipped for in-home dining. The master bath has a heated-floor for chilly mornings! We thoughougly enjoyed our time and were sad to leave. As 1st time VRBO'ers we were cautious, but it was a great overall experience and cannot thank our hosts enough! J. Sullivan, NY, NY
We rented this home to have a nice place by the beach and host several of my family members for Thanksgiving. The home was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The owner met us at the entrance, showed us how everything worked and offered to lend kitchen items knowing we were hosting Thanksgiving. We didnt need it since the kitchen had everything including new appliances. The patio was also lovely and just as comfortable as the home. Also, I left jewerly and the owners were nice enough to notify me and mail it to my home. Cant say enough--great place--great owners.
We just returned to Spain from a perfect family vacation in Santa Monica. The house is perfectly located, walking distance to the beach, and optimal to visit Malibu, Venice, Hollywood, etc. We found the house impeccable, very clean and with amenities that far exceeded expectations. The owner couldn´t have been more helpful from the first contact we made by email to the last day of our stay. We are extremely grateful for a wonderful stay and we would love to come back.
I booked this place for my family who were visiting from Europe and they absolutely loved it. The place is beautiful and perfectly kept down to the tiniest detail - the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into how to make their guests comfortable and tried to anticipate every need. They were very personable, helpful and communicative so the booking itself was a breeze. The place is perfectly located for beach time and trips to Malibu and the Santa Monica mountains. It is also very close to the famous Santa Monica stairs and walking distance to the Palisades Park (the park overlooking the ocean along the Santa Monica coastline). My family loves to get around on foot and walked to the Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade as well as to coffee shops on Montana Ave. They were sad to leave and would not want to stay anywhere else next time they're in town. Thank you for a fantastic stay!
My partner and I loved staying here for almost a week. This home is in the perfect location--close to the beach and also relatively close to businesses on the West Side, with views of the ocean and super easy access from the PCH. The house is in even better condition than is apparent in the photos. It's very well cared for and very clean (and I really like things to be clean.) The friendly owners/managers clearly love this home and have created a fantastic vacation home experience. The kitchen was spotless and stocked with fresh bread and jam for the morning, fruit and wine, and mid-week we were treated to another bottle of wine with fresh home baked cookies. Bathrooms are quite nice, and technology is up to date. I couldn't recommend this home more!
Santa Monica Canyon is one of the prettiest, most tranquil neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Nestled between Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica, the area is close to shopping and great restaurants but also offers its residents proximity to the beach and many outdoor activities. Will Rogers Beach is just outside your door. Walk or take the bike path along the beach to the Santa Monica Pier, Venice or north towards Malibu. Take a dip in the ocean. Or explore the Canyon's secret stairways shaded by native oaks & eucalyptus leading to Rustic Canyon park with neighborhood tennis courts and swimming pool. Several fine restaurants are a short walk from the house and shopping of Montana Avenue, Venice, and Pacific Palisades is only a few minutes drive. But it is also possible to fully enjoy the area without a car - almost unheard of in Los Angeles! With its rich history in the arts, the Canyon is still a favorite of celebrated artists, writers and musicians, and it’s easy to see why.
Christopher Isherwood, one of the many literary stars who have called this area Home, wrote about the Canyon in several of this works. In an essay, 'The Shore' (1952), he describes the area:
The place in the United States I think of as home – and I feel very homesick for it as I write these words – is the stretch of ocean front running five or six miles south from Santa Monica Canyon to Venice, partly inside, partly outside the city limits of Los Angeles.
Santa Monica Canyon – known always simply as ‘The Canyon’ to its dwellers – lies just north of the city of Santa Monica. It is a shallow flat-bottomed little valley, crowded with cottages of self-consciously rustic design, where cranky, kindly people live and tolerate each other’s mild and often charming eccentricities. The Canyon is our western Greenwich Village, overrun now by various types of outsiders, but still maintaining an atmosphere of Bohemianism and unpretentious artiness.
