Our beautifully decorated one bedroom condo has a king-size bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Both rooms have a LCD TV. The kitchen has all you need for cooking with a granite breakfast bar and bar stools overlooking the ocean.

The lanai has a bar height table with two chairs and a table and four swivel/rocking patio chairs, all top quality. Inside you will find beautiful hardwood mahogany floors, granite in the bath/shower, and updated furniture. Our unit is complete with linens, towels, complete kitchen and beach gear!

Walk to Kona Town in 2 minutes and enjoy local restaurants, shopping and beaches.

We are natives of California, but now live in Reno, Nevada. We have been traveling to Hawaii for over 30 years, and we just love all the Islands. We have a vacation rental in Kona, and one in Waikiki. That way we have the best of both - big city, and quiet town!

As you will discover when you stay at our beautiful condo, HaleKonaKai is one of the nicest condo buildings in Kona. And, it is in the BEST LOCATION - bar none. It is the closest condo building to Kona town that is also right on the water. You can walk everywhere in Kona Town from our unit, leaving the car in it's covered, assigned parking stall right under the condo.

See whales, spinner dolpins, and sea turtles right from our lanai! Ours is an end unit with a 180degree view of the ocean.

The beauty of Kailua Kona can be enjoyed at many locations but none achieves a more complete package than Hale Kona Kai 201. The condo is close (walking distance) to all the convenience Kailua Kona offers but just one block away from Alii Dr. it provides a sense of seclusion. The view from the lanai is spectacular. If you were any closer to the ocean, you would be in it. The sound of crashing wave provides the background music to this romantic get-away. EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS!

This place has it all! It is very nicely appointed, and had everything we needed (and more) for our stay. When we weren't out exploring we were content to spend hours on the lanai just watching the ocean and the sunsets. The location is excellent - walking distance to many shops and restaurants, yet it feels much more remote. If and when we return we can't imagine staying anywhere else. Thanks for a great stay!

BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS!

We have to start with the view...the incredible view. We spent countless hours on the lanai watching Honu in the tidal pools, surfers, outrigger canoes, yellow Tangs in the swells, stand up paddle boarders, net fishermen on the lava rocks... and of course, the amazing beauty of each sunset. We were mesmerized by the waves, the swells grew big during part of our stay and watching them crash on the wall directly below us was incredibly powerful. On those nights the fury of those big waves was so loud we had to close the window.
We appreciated the location of Hale Kona Kai. While a small home was nearby and other resorts not far away, we still enjoyed a feeling of solitude and unexpected privacy. It was a short walk to shopping, many restaurants and the wonderful farmers' market.
The interior of 201 was updated and contemporary. We found everything we needed and it was all in good working order. We're very happy to report that the bed and furniture is surprisingly comfortable. We truly appreciated having access to a cooler, beach chairs and snorkel gear.
When not on the lanai, we visited Volcanoes National Park (highly recommend), Punaluu Black Sand Beach and the amazing Honu and our favorite beach, Kua Bay. We recommend taking the five hour zodiac snorkel trip with Sea Quest to experience the incredible beauty of the Kona Coast from the water and the stunning snorkeling at Kealakekua, Place of Refuge and a gorgeous secret spot.
The only thing we can think of that could be improved on was the bedroom curtains are difficult to close at night and open in the morning. It's also hard to imagine more than two staying in this condo, it's perfect for two and would be really tight for more than that.
We loved our stay, highly recommend to others and can't wait to visit again! We left Hale Kona Kai relaxed, refreshed and ready to reenter our lives. Mahalo and Aloha!!

EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED - AND THAT'S THE BEST PRAISE OF ALL!

We stayed here in May 2011. The unit is EXACTLY as advertised, and everything worked (except for the coffee grinder, more than offset by the outstanding AC).

Parking is literally directly underneath the unit, right by the staircase, so it could not be more convenient. The location means an abundance of quiet. The video doesn't do the lanai justice; it's deeper than it looks in the video, and wraps around the side of the building if you've got to have your early-morning sunshine.

The town is an easy walk of about a half-mile, and if there's a downside to this location at all, it's that there just isn't much to do in the town proper. (However, Don the Beachcomber - and their outstanding Plantation Mai-Tais - is in the resort next door, just out of earshot of this unit.) If we return to Kona, there's no question that we'll book this unit again!

A GEM ON THE BIG ISLAND

In the 4 years we have been coming to the Big Island of Hawaii, there is
always that one thing we can count on (apart from the weather) to make the
visit first rate: A visit to this condo.

This unit is a smartly appointed one bedroom with
wrap around lanai, air conditioning, stunning views - and always spotlessly
clean and fresh when we check in for our 28+ day stay.

The owners are pleasant, professional, courteous and super-easy to deal
with. In 5 visits, over the years, everything has gone off without a hitch.
They also have a wonderful gal who looks after the unit locally and has all
the answers to any issues that could come up.

Some impressions: Eating a birthday dinner on the lanai watching the Sun go down - Making a fresh
breakfast every morning of granola, fresh papaya or whipping up a savory
omelette. Snorkeling with brilliant tropical fish in the water adjacent to
the condo. Sitting on the patio watching an endless procession of Humpback
whales in migration.

Drinking coffee grown within a 20 minutes drive. Taking the 5 minute walk to
Alii drive to experience a rainbow of eating and entertainment options - all
the while treasuring the quiet solitude here.

These units are close enough to the fun yet enveloped in an old
Hawaii charm - the perfect oasis to end every perfect day in paradise.

A short drive from downtown Kona in Kailua bay: A stop at the historic
Honokohau-Marina and sharing an order of fresh caught fish and chips while
sipping from a frozen schooner of beer.

This condo is also a short stroll to Huggo's waterfront seafood bar and grill
- for some of the Island's freshest catch of the day. Watching a quiet
tropical thunderstorm over a glass of wine or Island brewed beer. Savoring a
pizza from Kona Brewing company, a short drive away. Flashing or receiving
the shaka hand gesture from (or to) a complete stranger.

We are walking distance to a bustling farmers market where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables for a fraction of the price at the big stores.

We first stayed here in 1996 and as of the last 5
years have been returning annually. We love it!

GREAT BIG ISLAND EXPERIENCE

My fiance and I came to Hawaii for a friends wedding and we decided to extend the trip since we had never been to Hawaii. I am the vacation planner in our family and really lucked out finding this condo. I spoke with Debbie on the phone and she was very nice giving me hints on what to do in the area. If you enjoy being within a short walking distance, 2-3 blocks, to a fun downtown (Kona) and enjoy being literally right on the ocean this is the place. Just writing this review makes me want to go back. We loved the views from the lanai, we saw many sea turtles, little crabs, and other sea life. The condo had everything we wanted, it was clean, had a well appointed kitchen, and a comfortable king size bed. The days started with enjoying Kona coffee on the lanai while watching surfers and ended with some fresh ahi poke while taking in a beautiful Pacific sunset. The week we were there the Royal Kona Resort, which is right next door, had the lead singer from Five for Fighting for a small concert, listening to the crashing waves and the beautiful music made staying in Kona at this condo the highlight of our trip. I told owners Debbie and Dennis we would like to return next year if they have any availability.
