What started as a winter retreat for Norwegian family members, the 'Love Shack' has become a cherished family getaway for all. The famous Galveston Island 'magic' can be felt throughout her sturdy walls and original 1913 wooden floors. Weathering Ike with only minimal exterior bumps and bruises, Love Shack is now more beautiful than ever with a new whitewashed picket fence, deck, and lush front garden. Galveston has become our home away from home.

What makes this house unique

The recent outdoor addition of a large private deck and beautiful landscaping have made weekends even more enjoyable. Grab the floats and towels for a quick stroll to the beach in the morning where the 37th street pier and life guard stand makes for a safe and fun family spot. That evening, return with beach chairs for a beautiful sunset colored sky to remember. The east end Seawall offers a wide variety of entertainment and dining options within easy walking distance of the Love Shack. You can also walk to the new pleasure pier. Great home!!

We recently rented this home for weekend! It was very clean, extremely roomy (we had 6 adults and one 5 month old) and really nicely decorated! It was accessible to the seawall as well! We will definitely keep in mind for future trips to Galveston! The reservation/payment process took less than 30 minutes and was extremely easy! Also, the refund of our deposit was the same day as we checked out! Very efficient business!!! Thank you so much!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Perfect spot in Galveston

We recently stayed here with our kids and their spouses for a quick family vacation. This home is perfectly situated in the middle of town, close to the Strand, beach and restaurants. The house is well stocked and very comfortable. I highly recommend this property!

The house is well maintained and a short walk to the beach and Seawall Blvd which is the Main Street with access to Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn, dining and shopping. The house was equipped with everything we needed for preparing our meals. We all slept comfortably. I would recommend this property to families. The owner communicated well with us and was available by phone, but we did not need him.

Lovely vacation house

Our family, including four kids and two grandparents, have had a lovely, relaxing post-Christmas holiday in this charming house. The house is even nicer in person than in the pictures and had plenty of space for us. Everything is nicely cared for and the kitchen and baths are nicely updated. The tub was perfect for a deep soak! The patio would be perfect for BBQs in warmer weather but we stayed cozy inside.

The house is located close enough to everything - we enjoyed trips to the Strand for shopping, the Ocean Star Offshore museum, Moody Gardens, walks on the seawall and football on the beach (on a section of beach farther down the island). There are loads of restaurants nearby and a Kroger not far away either.

Great Thanksgiving Week in Galveston

We stayed in this property Thanksgiving week. We could tell as soon as we walked in the door the owner takes great pride in making sure his guests have a good visit. This house is very clean, well maintained, and has everything you need. The location is great - two blocks from the beach, and short walk or drive to many attractions.

This was our first trip to Galveston, and we enjoyed everything about it. It seemed like a great time of year to be there. The beach, the strand, the East End Historic District, and the festival of lights were great. Lot of great restaurants - Gaidos and The Gumbo Bar to name a couple. Also the best candy store we have ever been to LaKings.

Our thanks to Gaard for providing a nice house for the week!
