What started as a winter retreat for Norwegian family members, the 'Love Shack' has become a cherished family getaway for all. The famous Galveston Island 'magic' can be felt throughout her sturdy walls and original 1913 wooden floors. Weathering Ike with only minimal exterior bumps and bruises, Love Shack is now more beautiful than ever with a new whitewashed picket fence, deck, and lush front garden. Galveston has become our home away from home.

The recent outdoor addition of a large private deck and beautiful landscaping have made weekends even more enjoyable. Grab the floats and towels for a quick stroll to the beach in the morning where the 37th street pier and life guard stand makes for a safe and fun family spot. That evening, return with beach chairs for a beautiful sunset colored sky to remember. The east end Seawall offers a wide variety of entertainment and dining options within easy walking distance of the Love Shack. You can also walk to the new pleasure pier. Leave the car in the garage for a night of fun on the Galveston Seawall!

Great home!!

We recently rented this home for weekend! It was very clean, extremely roomy (we had 6 adults and one 5 month old) and really nicely decorated! It was accessible to the seawall as well! We will definitely keep in mind for future trips to Galveston! The reservation/payment process took less than 30 minutes and was extremely easy! Also, the refund of our deposit was the same day as we checked out! Very efficient business!!! Thank you so much!

Great Family Rental

This restored 1918 house is terrific. Rooms are large, ceilings are high, beds for 8 are comfortable, and living room furniture is extremely comfortable. The kitchen has high-end appliances--especially the large refrigerator and good dishwasher. One of the real strengths of this place is location near a good beach at 37th street-- AND the huge two-car garage. Gaard was very responsive to any requests we had. Overall, I highly recommend this house.

My family and I had a great time staying in this comfortable home. Everything that we needed for a great weekend was available to us; the home was clean, the high ceilings made it feel very large and spacious, and the amenities were excellent. The owner communicated very openly and clearly with us; there were no unexpected surprises. It exceeded our expectations and we would definitely recommend this property to our friends.

Delightful family vacation

My family, which included 7 adults and 1 infant, spent 4 nights in this lovely house. We had a great time and it was extraordinarily clean and well-stocked. It was an easy walk to the Seawall. We found it quite spacious. The dining table only sat 6, but we were able to bring an extra chair from the garage and squeezed in okay. Also, the two queen beds were a bit noisy, but they were very comfortable. One of the bedrooms is at the back of the house, which was very handy since it allowed baby with mommy and daddy to be separate from everyone else. This allowed everyone, including the baby, to sleep better!

The owner was very professional and easy to work with. Everything was exactly as described and there were no surprises. We are strongly considering renting it again next year if it is available.

What a terrific place to spend thanksgiving with friends and family. Plenty of room for my husband son and i and our friends along with their son. Boths kids are in their 20's but we had plenty of room. This cozy home has plenty of seating and room for meals and games. Beautiful tile and granit in the bathrooms and kitchen in this gorgeous home in the historic end of town. It was a bit chilly to use the outdoor patio and bbq area but it was spacious and private for mild evenings. The most spacious garage you could ask for in a rental house. Even fit our large king cab f350 longbed truck. Close to the beach and plenty of places to eat. Not far from the pleasure pier and the strand. This is a cute cozy home able to fit 8 people with plenty of room and amenities. The owner was very quick to respond to our request and emails. No middleman property management company to deal with. The paperwork and payment were done online and the check in check out process was so easy. Everything about renting this property was so easy and the property was prestine. This is a must see when you consider your next trip to galveston. You get so much more for your money with this rental. Thank you gaard.
