I am a native San Franciscan recently returned to SF after living in France, the eastern USA and Canada. The Beach House is a family property that we care for personally. We have furnished it with family possessions and bits and pieces that we have collected from our travels and living abroad.
The Beach House property has been in our family since 1952 and excellently maintained. I grew up in the upstairs flat with the Ocean Beach, Land's End, Sutro Park and Legion of Honor museum as my backyard playgrounds. Situated in the western extreme of the city it has all the benefits of a peaceful coastal setting and near excellent neighborhood restaurants rated some of the best in SF (eg: Aziza, Pizzetta 211, Tom Kiang).
If it hadn't been for several major conventions eating up all available hotel rooms in San Francisco, I would have never thought to try a short term rental like HomeAway. But out of sheer desperation, I went online, found this flat, emailed the owner, got a rapid, informative response from owner Denise and my lodging problems were solved. Within 15 minutes. And that's not even the best part. Upon arrival, we discovered that the flat was exquisite: colors and decor utterly charming, furniture comfortable, soft, Yves Delorme bedding, dishes, great books, helpful information and a cheerful owner who greeted us even when we arrived early. When there was a small glitch in the wireless internet, Denise was quick to respond with a fix that took care of the problem. The location is quiet with views of the ocean and just a few quick steps to the paths that wind through the park for hikes and breath taking sunsets.
It was a difficult family circumstance that brought us unexpectedly to SF. What a blessing to find this beautiful soothing sanctuary where every detail was attended to with thought and any question answered immediately. I can't imagine anyone regretting spending their time in this jewel box located in the prettiest part of San Francisco.
Four of us, two couples, stayed here for 4 nights at the end of September. More than enough room, comfy beds, very clean, full bathroom with tub and separate shower, full kitchen with all you'd need. Very quiet (except for one small, yappy dog in the neighbourhood) and safe. Was about 20 minutes from the Wharf by cab ($25) & 25 minutes to Union Square ($30). There's a bus stop a block away you can catch the 38 bus that takes you right to Union Square for $2.25. Take the 38L instead of just the 38. Way less stops along the way, a difference of 45 minutes compared to 20 minutes. Nice to be out of the City Center to get to see more of the beautiful city! Very happy with the quick replies by the owner. Would come back for sure! Thanks so much!!!
Beautiful location and well-appointed apartment. If you want to enjoy the city attractions but get out of the bustle to enjoy the natural beauty too, this is a great place to stay. You'll have walking trails by the ocean and great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, along with direct transit to downtown available just one block away (it takes about 35 minutes to get to Union Square). There is also easy access to drive either north or south out of the city. The apartment is wonderfully homey, comfortable and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen. Denise was very helpful and responded promptly any time we contacted her. All in all, this property perfectly suited our family of 4 adults and we would definitely enjoy staying here again.
The place is so great to stay in SF!!!! Denise is a great host. The apartment is so beautiful, clean, will designed and equipped with everything. The ocean is few minutes’ walk. You live virtually in the park. No problems with parking.
Denise's apartment is an oasis to come back to after walking miles while exploring San Francisco. It's literally a few steps to Lands End trails. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Safeway delivers your first grocery order free. Just be sure to call before 8:30 am. Bedrooms are roomy with comfy beds and there is a tiny view of the Pacific Ocean from the living room window. The apartment is clean, neat and wonderfully decorated. You will get very acquainted with bus #38, if you like to be in the city. This apartment is in a very quiet corner of San Francisco. The Cliff House is a third of a mile from the apartment, however it was closed during our visit. You will not be disappointed with this lovely apartment!
We stayed with our 3-yr-old son here, and overall it was a great little place in San Fran. The location is very good, a 5 minute walk down to a really nice beach. The neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful, and the on-street parking was a huge bonus. Owner was very nice and welcoming. I would stay here again.
