Overall, a great property
We stayed over memorial weekend. Good communication by management. Property was clean, and well maintained. Location is great, nice quite area, short drive from airport and sea world. Home is as beautiful as you see in the pictures, with great privacy. Home is well furnished and has a very old-time beach house charm. My only complaint would be that the home is listed as having air conditioning, when in fact it does not. The property rental manual adds "This is San Diego, so if you want air conditioning, open the windows." We were there early enough that the temperatures were generally fine, but just be aware, No air-conditioning. The beach is a block away with beautiful sand but has very aggressive surf, so it isn't the best beach for young children to play in. If you want to read about it yourself, Google "Marine Street Beach". But, the location is good enough, you are a short drive to a ton of other beaches. Von's grocery is very close with a few nice restaurants and shops.

Owner's Response: The Artist Beach Retreat has central air conditioning throughout the home. The air conditioning works very well, so I regret that the Reviewers did not notify the Property Manager that they were unable to locate the air conditioning thermostat located in the hallway near the kitchen. The property rental manual does suggest that our year round mild temperatures of 50 to 70 degrees makes it possible to enjoy comfortable ocean breezes by simply opening the windows, and air conditioning is usually not needed even in the summer. The interior courtyard is completely fenced in, so there is no need to close and lock windows while one is away. Only 3 of the 25 homes we feature in La Jolla have air conditioning. The Artist Beach Retreat is one of the 3 homes we offer that features excellent central air conditioning.
