Frog Lake is a short 30-minute drive from Tahoe Donner, and is located north of Lake Tahoe and Donner Summit. It is convenient to the Reno/Tahoe International Airport.
Amid nature's awesome display of huge granite boulders, alpine evergreens and wildflowers, you will find a pristine lake and the secluded Frog Lake cabin complex, consisting of 'Frog Lake Lodge,' 'The Boy's Cabin,' 'The Cook's Cabin,' and the 'Caretaker's Cottage.' A caretaker lives on the premises in the 'Caretaker's Cottage' and is available as a resource to guests.
Frog Lake Lodge, constructed of hand-carved granite in the 1930s, provides a spacious, pleasant gathering area with a stone fireplace. Adjoining the kitchen is a dining area that seats 10 comfortably. A master bedroom with full bath and walk-in closet sleeps two. The enclosed loft sleeps four guests. The granite porch provides a spectacular view of the lake and Frog Lake Cliff. The deck is a great place to read, BBQ, and socialize.
The Boy's Cabin has two bedrooms joined by a three-quarter bath. The Cook's Cabin has a kitchen, three-quarter bath, Franklin wood stove, and beds.
After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, you are ready for the day's activities. Teeming with native trout, Frog Lake is ideal for fly fishing. Enjoy swimming, canoeing, or rowing, and hiking around the lake. Two secluded beaches offer the perfect getaway for those needing extra privacy.
Climb to Castle Peak and view the Sierra north to Mt. Lassen and south to Lake Tahoe, or take a short hike and discover magnificent mountain and lake views. Situated next to the crest of the Sierra, Frog Lake provides quick access to the Pacific Crest Trail system. Nearby are stables where you can go horseback riding.
