Enjoy a secluded retreat in this contemporary-style cabin in the Redwoods. Bathed in sunlight, the cabin is a short stroll to the Mad River and only minutes from HSU and downtown Arcata's local shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and Community Forest.
This cozy redwood retreat has a welcoming covered front porch, a fully equipped kitchen, and bamboo and tiled floors throughout. The open floor plan accomodates a comfortable queen-sized bed downstairs and a cozy sleeping loft with a full-sized bed upstairs... each within the view & comfort of the warm stone hearth. The west-facing sunny back deck is ideal for outdoor dining while enjoying this private Redwood Oasis.
Also, if you have a little time to explore, our location is just a short drive to beautiful local beaches near Eureka and Trinidad, & natural paradises of Patricks Point State Park, Big Lagoon and Redwood National Park.
(New accommodation-no pets allowed.)
Krista and Jeffrey live on 47 beautiful redwood acres just outside Arcata. Having traveled abroad on quite a few adventures with their 2 kids, they love coming home to the Redwood Coast.
Krista Duarte purchased this cabin in 2009
Very quiet and peaceful. A great getaway from the hustle and bustle.
Thank you so much for the cabin. It was just perfect! Quiet, peaceful and cozy. And it has everything we needed. Would love to come back sometime. All the best, Bonnie
We made our last trip to Arcata to celebrate our last HSU graduate. This was by far the most fun we've had as far as properties to stay in. The cabin was equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed quiet time on the deck, reading and having coffee in the morning and then celebrating with our graduate and her friends one evening. We brought along a propane fire pit which allowed us to spend time outdoors in the evening comfortably. Two 80 year old's shared the downstairs bed and we younger 50 something year olds shared the very comfortable living area in the loft. We headed east one afternoon just a short distance and found Mad River, had an enjoyable picnic there one sunny afternoon. At night we found the Blue River (smokey, cough cough) Casino and won some money, too! Farmers Market on Saturday is always a must. I think it would have been nice to have a microwave at the cabin; if only for the reason that we like our coffee HOT! Krista, the owner, rescued us on more than one occasion, she was wonderful to loan us an iron and board, and to open up the cabin when we locked the keys inside...should have paid more attention to that advice to leave key in the lockbox...Almost sad that we don't have any more kids at HSU cause we would definitely rent this place again!!!
We have stayed at the cabin twice while visiting our son at HSU. The cabin is all green-built, spotlessly clean and just cosy as can be. The pictures are accurate, except it is probably nicer, particularly sitting on the porch or side deck on a sunny day. The setting is incredibly quiet and peaceful. I sleep better there than at home! Can't recommend the cabin enough. I have also stayed in the Airstream which is awesome in its own way.
We found the cabin and location peaceful and relaxing. We rented the cabin for two nights with my older parents. It was perfectly clean. My folks slept in the bed in the main space (which they said was very comfortable) and my husband and I slept in the loft...which also was comfortable with plenty of room for our bags as well. The kitchen is small but everything you need. I would stay here again.
I stayed here with my husband recently while visiting family in Eureka, and the cabin was absolutely perfect! The exterior is beautiful, especially with the porch lights on at night, and the interior is gorgeous as well - so cozy and delightful! The surrounding woods are also beautiful, it was so cool to wake up in the morning and see the fresh mist and a couple deer strolling by :) Everything was so pleasant and comfortable, it absolutely felt like a home away from home. Krists and Jeffrey could not have been nicer and more accomodating as well, overall it was just a terrific experience!
My son and I had the most relaxing vacation at Krista and Jeff's cabin on their beautiful acreage close to Arcata. It was exceptionally clean, beautifully furnished with cool extras like a beautiful deck with white lights that came on automatically at night. Quiet and peaceful! The road up is a little steep, but easily manageable. Highly recommend!
My family of two adults and two kids recently stayed in Jeffrey and Krista's wonderful cabin on their beautiful property in Arcata. We have a brother in the area so we wanted to be nearby him to hang out together easily. The cabin was immaculate and practically brand new! The kids loved sleeping in the loft. We enjoyed the back deck and had a few great bbq's out there. The zip line and fire pit were great fun. The property is just off the freeway (convenient) yet off the path and so quite private. The price was very reasonable and the owners returned our cleaning deposit in a timely fashion. We will definitely be inquiring again the next time we come to Arcata to visit, thanks!
