If you need to relax and enjoy friends and family, Emily's Place is for you! It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, comfortable living room, eating area and fully equipped kitchen. If you haven't spent time relaxing at a lake, you should treat yourself to this experience. A paddleboat & a dock are available for your enjoyment. For early risers, watching the sunrise on the deck with a cup of coffee or tea is a must. Coffee maker, coffee and tea are provided. During the day, you can watch all the usual summer activities and enjoy nature on the lake. Evenings can be spent sitting around a campfire by the lake. Lakeshore Market (a fully stocked store with groceries, great meat dept. & spirits) is within walking distance. You can walk next door to Ramona Park and enjoy all the amenities of a pristine park (picnic area, playground & huge beach with lifeguards.

Location: The old picture from the deck, shows the beach full of weeds. Since that picture was was taken, all the weeds have been removed. There is now a dock which is great for swimming and fishing. Emily's Place is conveniently located in the Kalamazoo/Portage area about half way between Detroit and Chicago. Coming from either city is about a two and a half hour to three hour drive on I94. It's a short distance to Highway 131. You'll find that this home/cottage is located in an area that is relaxing yet close to Portage/Kalamazoo. Portage Creek Bicentennial Park connects with Milham Park in Kalamazoo. The 3.6-mile Bicentennial Trail is open year-round for hiking. Adjacent to the park is The Celery Flats Interpretive Center and Historical Area, which features historic displays structures. The Hayloft Theatre and outdoor amphitheatre at Celery Flats host a Summer Entertainment Series from June through September.

Great Way to Spend the Weekend!

My son was in a lacrosse tournament in Kalamazoo and the thought of spending a summer weekend in a hotel room didn't really thrill me. Fortunately, I found Emily's Place a quaint cottage with a beautiful view. For the price of a hotel room, we had room for four, a wonderful deck, and a nice view of the lake. The mooning rising over the lake at night was breathtaking. Beyond that we had a fully equiped kitchen which allowed us to save money by cooking some of our meals in house. Next time I need to to go to KZoo, I'm staying here.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Once you spend some time at "Emily's Place" you get it. It's a little bit of paradise. Check it out for yourself!

Home Away from Home

The first time we stayed at Emily's Place was Sept. of 2009. We were moving from Ky. to Mich. and our house here in Mich. wasn't going to be ready for another month. I located Emily's Place online and it sounded great but was nothing compared to how nice it really was. The one word to describe it is AWESOME! Sharon is a wonderful person, the neighbor next door is absolutely great! It was so great to sit on the deck in the early morning while the steam was rising from the lake and a couple of fishermen were trolling the waters and me with my coffee. Even though we only live about 3 miles or so from the cottage, we stayed there again in July of 2010 and had a cook-out and small party for my father-in-law. This place is the best and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
