Pam Decker purchased this house in 2006
After traveling around the country, we found Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii to be the most special place around.
We love the views in our backyard! And watching the stars at night while soaking in our Jacuzzi.
This is a great house to enjoy your vacation on the Big Island. The house is very nice, exactly what we were expecting. The owners made sure we had everything we needed, and the location was prefect for us to go on our daily adventures.
5 adults; 10 nights. Well equipped house. Nicely decorated. Great location. Good place to make your base location for exploring. Close to major routes and highlights. Swim at the Kohala beaches in the morning and escape to the country for a nap in the afternoon. In the cool evenings, relax and read by the great wood stove, after a soak in the hot tub under the stars. Hosts were friendly and accommodating.
Our party of 4 really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful house. Every morning we made breakfast and ate it on the awesome lanai with the horses who came by for bananas. We would then bounce around on the trampoline for a bit before we were off on our daily adventures. At night, we really enjoyed coming home to the hot tub for some stargazing. The house was well-equipped with everything you needed, including a dishwasher and laundry machines. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it to other guests!
We are long time residents of Oahu looking for a different landscape, atmosphere, and climate. We found the home extremely clean, updated, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Immediately there was a warm, loving feeling to the home. All the beds (even the day bed) were comfortable, and had plenty of blankets. The fireplace was a bonus, and the owners even brought us firewood! We awoke the next morning to a peaceful and beautiful surrounding. The home is located at the end of the road, so there is hardly any street noise. The owners even left our kids a scooter, basket ball and hoop, unicycle, and all the beach gear you need. And the road is quiet and safe so the kids could play in the road! The view from the back lanai is tremendous! Rolling green hills, cattle, two friendly horses, trees, and wild flowers. We star gazed and watched the full moon rise from the hot tub. The tub is hot 24/7, very clean, and private. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai, where the horses came to know that we would always give them treats and attention. The kitchen appliances are super ... stainless steal dishwasher, frig/freezer, and professional gas stove/oven. There is even a washer and dryer so you can pack light. The owners were kind enough to leave is a binder and book with wonderful ideas of what to do. Waimea/Kamuela is the perfect location ... you get the cool, quiet, country and drive only 20 minutes to warm, sandy beaches. Stores are only 5 min. or less away. We really enjoyed coming "home" after exploring the island. Our favorite outing was to Dahana Ranch where we road horses and had incredible views of Waipio Vally and Mauna Kea!! We will definitely be back, hopefully soon! This place feels like home, maybe even better! Mahalo for your hospitality and attention to detail.
Your Vacation Rental is the house of a splendid location.I stayed at the bigisland VR sometimes before, but your house is the best. And it was nice that there was a guitar in the house becouse I do work of the music in Japan.
Mahalo (lot of Arigato),
Just imagine you were a character of "Little house on the Prairie". The terrace faced to the wide prairie will give you a big surprise - sometimes the horses come to you and blow the breath. At night thousands of stars will impress you so deeply. The owner's hospitality is also lovely. Highly recommended accomodation.
Honokaa Peoples Theatres located in Honokaa offers movies, concerts and cultural events. In Waimea, we also have The Kahilu Theatre Foundation which brings theatre, education and culture to Hawaii on the Big Island.
